Information:
1. Drain the coolant from the cooling system below the level of the water temperature regulators. Drain the coolant into a suitable container for storage or disposal. 2. Loosen the clamps that secure hoses (1) to the regulator housing. Place the hoses away from the regulator housing. 3. Disconnect tube assembly (2). 4. Remove the bolts that hold bracket (3) to the regulator housing, and move the bracket away from the housing. 5. Disconnect tube assemblies (4) from the regulator housing. 6. Identify and mark the positions of the wires on switches (5), (6) and (7) for purposes of assembly. Disconnect the wires from switches (5), (6) and (7). 7. Remove the bolts and retainers that secure tube (8) in place in the regulator housing and water pump. Remove the tube. 8. Remove the bolts and clamp and remove the wiring and pressure sensor (9) and tube assembly (10) from the regulator housing. 9. Fasten a hoist and Tool (A) to regulator housing (11). Remove bolts (12) and the bolts that secure the regulator housings to bracket (13). Remove the regulator housings from the engine. The combined weight of the regulator housings is approximately 38 Kg (83 lb).
Typical10. Place the regulator housings upside down. Remove bolts (14) and separate the regulator housings.
Typical11. Remove water temperature regulators (15) from the regulator housing. 12. Remove seals (16) and valve assembly (17) from the regulator housing. Remove the ball from under the valve assembly.Install Water Temperature Regulators
Typical1. Install the ball and valve assembly (17) in the regulator housing. Ensure that the open end of the valve assembly is facing toward the outside of the housing. The valve assembly must make contact with the bottom of the bore.2. Using Tool (A), install new seals (16) into the housing. Install the seals with the lip facing toward the inside of the regulator housing.
Typical
If the water temperature regulators are installed wrong, it will cause the engine to overheat.
3. Install the water temperature regulators (15) into the regulator housing.
Typical4. Fasten a hoist and Tool (B) to regulator housing (11). Install gasket (18) and housing (19) in position on regulator housing (11). Secure the housing with bolts (14). Place the housings in position on the engine. Install bolts (12) that secure the regulator housings to bracket (13). 5. Using bolts and clamps, install the wiring and the pressure sensor (9) and tube assembly (10) to the regulator housing. 6. Ensure that the O-ring seals are in position on tube (8). Apply clean oil on the O-ring seals. Using bolts and retainers, install tube (8) in the regulator housing and the water pump. 7. Connect the wires to switches (5), (6) and (7). 8. Ensure that the O-ring seals are in position on each end of tube assemblies (4). Apply clean oil on the O-ring seals. Place tube assembly (4) in position in the water pump and regulator housing. Install the retainers and bolts that secure the tube assembly. 9. Place bracket (3) in position on the regulator housing and install the bolts that secure it. 10. Connect tube assembly (2) to the housing. 11. Using clamps, secure hoses (1) to the regulator housing. Tighten the clamps.12. Fill the cooling system. Refer to the Operation & Maintenance Manual for the correct fluid and capacity.
