start by:a) remove cab *b) remove hoodc) remove radiator and guardd) remove rear drive shaft **e) remove center drive shaft ***This operation is in the OPERATOR'S STATION, DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY section.**These operations are in the POWER TRAIN, DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY section.1. Drain the oil from the hydraulic tank. 2. Remove plug (1). Drain the oil from the transmission. 3. Disconnect wire (2) from the alternator. Put identification on all wires and hose assemblies so they will not be mixed at assembly. 4. Disconnect fuel lines (4) from the fuel injection pump. Put caps or plugs on all fuel system openings.5. Disconnect cable (3) from the electric starting motor. 6. Disconnect wire and cable (7) from the solenoid switch assembly.7. Remove cotter pin and pin (6). Disconnect governor control rod (5) from the lever.
Always wear goggles when the air conditioning system is opened. This system is charged with Freon-12 (CCL2 F2-Dichlorodifluoromethane) which is not toxic or flammable. There is however a reason for caution. When Freon-12 makes contact with a flame, lethal phosgene gas is made. INHALING FREON THROUGH A LIGHTED CIGARETTE CAN CAUSE VIOLENT ILLNESS. This system is under high pressure at all times, engine running or not. HEAT MUST NEVER BE APPLIED TO A CHARGED SYSTEM.
8. Release the Freon-12 from the system. See AIR CONDITIONING AND HEATING, Purging the System, Form No. SENR7454. 9. Disconnect hose assemblies (10) from the air conditioner compressor.10. Disconnect wire (8) from the air conditioner compressor.11. Disconnect clip (9) from the firewall assembly. Pull hose assemblies (10) and wire (8) clear of the engine. 12. Disconnect wire (12) from the glow plug lead assembly. Disconnect clips (11) from the firewall assembly and pull wire (12) clear of the engine.13. Disconnect hose assembly (13) from the water separator. 14. Loosen clamp (14). Disconnect clip (20) from the timing gear plate and remove oil breather tube (15) from the engine.15. Disconnect water temperature adapter (16) from the cylinder head and pull clear of the engine.
Release the pressure from the air reservoir before any lines are disconnected.
16. Disconnect air line (18) from the air compressor.17. Disconnect air line (21) from the air compressor governor.18. Loosen clamp (17). Disconnect heater hose (19) and pull it clear of the engine. 19. Loosen clamp (22). Disconnect heater hose (24) and pull it clear of the engine.20. Remove transmission oil cooler lines (23) and (25) from the oil cooler and transmission housing. 21. Remove the bolts that hold the platform assembly. Remove platform assembly (26), air conditioner hose assemblies (10), wire (8) and heater hoses (19) and (24) from the support assembly as a unit. 22. Remove bolts (29) and the nuts that hold the support assembly. Disconnect clips (27) that hold the battery cables. Remove support assembly (28) and cables (3) and (7) as a unit. 23. Remove the cotter pin and pin (31). Disconnect governor control rod (30) from the lever. 24. Remove the cotter pin and pin (32). Remove governor control rod (5) from the machine.25. Remove the bolts that hold the panel assembly. Remove panel assembly (33), governor control shaft and levers as a unit. 26. Remove bolts (35) that hold the firewall assembly to the support assembly. Remove firewall assembly (34). 27. Disconnect wire (37) from the back-up warning switch.28. Remove bracket (39) and back-up warning switch from the transmission as a unit.29. Disconnect transmission control rods (36) from the levers and pull the rods clear of the transmission.30. Disconnect air line (38) from the transmission neutralizer valve.
VIEW FROM UNDER MACHINE31. Remove bolts (41). Disconnect transmission oil level guide tube (40) from the bottom of the transmission case. 32. Remove the bolts that hold the transmission oil filler tube to the transmission. Remove bolt (43). Remove transmission oil filler tube (42) and oil level guide tube (40) from the machine.
VIEW FROM UNDER MACHINE33. Disconnect tube assembly (44) from the hose assembly. 34. Remove hydraulic tank guard (45) from the hydraulic tank. 35. Remove bolts (46). Remove tube assembly (44) from the hydraulic tank. 36. Disconnect torque converter temperature adapter (47) from the torque converter housing and pull it clear. 37. Loosen hose clamps (48). Slide hose (49) down on the tube until it is clear of the pump elbow. 38. Disconnect hose assemblies (50) and (51) from the bottom of the implement and steering pump. 39. Disconnect hose assembly (50) from the steering control valve and remove the hose assembly from the machine.40. Fasten a hoist and tool (A) to the engine, torque converter and transmission. 41. Remove bolts (52) that hold support assemblies (53) to each side of the transmission housing. 42. Remove bolts (54) and nuts that hold the engine front support to the rear frame. 43. Remove engine (55), torque converter and transmission from the machine as a unit. The weight of the engine, torque converter and transmission is 3850 lb. (1738 kg).Install Engine, Torque Converter And Transmission
1. Fasten a hoist and tool (A) to the engine, torque converter and transmission as shown. Put engine (1), torque converter and transmission in position in the machine as a unit.2. Install the bolts that hold the support assemblies to the side of the transmission housing. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 265 35 lb.ft. (360 47 N m).3. Install the bolts and nuts that hold the engine front support to the rear frame. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 265 35 lb.ft. (360 47 N m). 4. Connect hose assembly (2) to the steering control valve. 5. Connect hose assemblies (4) to the bottom of the steering and implement pump.6. Put hose (3) in position on the pump elbow. Install the clamps that hold it. 7. Connect torque converter temperature adapter (5) to the torque converter housing. 8. Install tube assembly
