Associated Codes
CDL Code     Description
E361-1     High Engine Coolant Temperature : least severe
E361-2     High Engine Coolant Temperature : moderate severity
E361-3     High Engine Coolant Temperature : most severe    Results:
There are associated codes. - Repair: Refer to Troubleshooting, "Diagnostic Trouble Codes" in order to troubleshoot the associated diagnostic code.STOP
A E1092 code and a E1319-2 code are present. - Proceed to Test Step 3.
There are no associated codes. - Proceed to Test Step 2.Test Step 2. Perform an Air Systems Service TestRefer to Illustration 1.
Establish communication between the electronic service tool and the ECM.
Select "Diagnostics" from the toolbar at top of screen.
Select "Diagnostic Tests" from the drop-down menu.
Select "Air Systems Motor Valve Verification Test".Results:
The air systems service test did not complete due to a 412-16 code. - Repair: Perform the following procedure:
Remove the exhaust inlet (2) and the exhaust outlet (4) from the NRS cooler (3) .Note: During the following inspection, some condensation may be present in the NRS cooler. This condition is normal.
Inspect the internal passage of the NRS cooler for evidence of coolant.
If significant amount of coolant is found, replace the NRS cooler. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Exhaust Cooler (NRS) - Remove and Install".STOP
The air systems test completed successfully. - Proceed to Test Step 3.Test Step 3. Inspect the NRS CoolerRefer to Illustration 1.Perform a leak test on the NRS cooler. Refer to Systems Operation, Testing, and Adjusting, "Exhaust Cooler (NRS) - Test".Results:
The NRS cooler has internal leakage. - Repair: Perform the following procedure:
Replace the NRS cooler. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Exhaust Cooler (NRS) - Remove and Install".
