Table 1
Diagnostic Codes Table
Code and Description     Conditions which Generate this Code     System Response
367-2 Ride Control Switch erratic, intermittent, or incorrect     Both switch inputs display open to the ECM.     The diagnostic is logged into memory and ride control function is disabled.    Ride Control provides a smoother ride so the machine will be more comfortable operating at a higher travel speed. In the automatic mode, this function cushions the bucket when the vehicle speed is above 9.5 km/h (6 mph). This prevents the bucket from bouncing up and down when the operator is carrying a load of material. The electronic control module uses two switch input to determine the mode for ride control. The ride control switch in the UP position will automatically determine when the ride control system will engage. The ride control switch in the CENTER position will disable this feature. the feature is disabled. The switch in the DOWN position allows the operator to override the automatic control of the ride control solenoid. Allowing the system to remain active at all timesThe ride control function is disabled if a problem is detected with the switch inputs to the ECM.

Schematic for the ride control switchTest Step 1. Check For Connector Damage
Remove electrical power from the ECM.
Thoroughly inspect the J1/P1 and thoroughly inspect the J2/P2 ECM connectors. Thoroughly inspect any connectors that are associated with the ride control switch. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Electrical Connectors - Inspect".

Perform a 45 N (10 lb) pull test on each of the wires for the lamp circuits.
Check the torque of the allen head screw on the ECM connectors. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Electrical Connectors - Inspect" for the correct torque values.
Check the harness and the wiring for abrasion and for pinch points from the dash display back to the ECM.Expected Result:All of the connectors, pins and sockets are completely coupled and/or inserted and the harness and wiring are free of corrosion, of abrasion and of pinch points. Results:
OK - The harness and connectors appear to be OK. Proceed to next Step 2.
Not OK - The connectors and/or wiring are not OK.Repair: Repair the connectors or wiring and/or replace the connectors or wiring. Ensure that all of the seals are properly in place and ensure that the connectors are completely coupled.Verify that the repair eliminates the problem.STOPTest Step 2. Check the Switch Status On the Cat ET
Install an Cat ET and the Communication Adapter Tool to the Service Tool Connector.
Turn the engine control switch to the ON position.
Operate the Ride Control Switch and checking the status on the Cat ET.Expected Result:The correct status of the ride control switch is "AUTO" when the switch is in the UP position. The correct status of the switch is "OFF" when the switch is in the CENTER position. The correct status of the switch is "ON" when the switch is in the DOWN position. Results:
OK - The switch is operating normally.STOP
Not OK - Proceed to next Step 3.Test Step 3. Short Wires At SwitchNote: Record switch wiring before removing wires for correct reconnection.
Disconnect the wires from the ride control switch.
Short F703-GY and 998-BR. Leave F704-OR open.
Turn the engine control switch to the OFF/RESET position. Then turn the engine control switch to the ON position.
Observe the status on the Cat ET.
Disconnect F703-GY and 998-BR. Short F704-OR and 998-BR.
Turn the engine control switch to the OFF/RESET position. Then turn to the ON position.
Observe the status on the Cat ET.
Short F703-GY, F704-OR and 998-BR
Turn the engine control switch to the OFF/RESET position. Then turn to the ON position.
Remove wire short.Expected Result:The correct status of the ride control switch will read "AUTO" when F703-GY and 998-BR are shorted and wire F704-OR is Open. The correct status of the ride control switch will read "ON" when F704-OR and 998-BRare shorted and wire F703-GY is Open. The correct status of the ride control switch will read "OFF" when F703-GY, F704-OR and 998-BR are shorted. Results:
OK - The ECM and the wire harness are OK. Repair: Replace the switch.STOP
Not OK - There is a problem in the harness or ECM. Proceed to next Step 4.Test Step 4. Check For Shorts In Harness
Turn the keyswitch to the OFF/RESET position.
Disconnect J1/P1, J2/P2 and the wires on the ride control switch.
Set the multimeter on the 20,000 Ohm scale.
Measure the resistance between P2 pin-1 (F704-OR)and P1 pin-29 (998-BR).
Measure the resistance between P2 pin-25 (F703-GY) and P1 pin-29 (998-BR).
Measure the resistance between P2 pin1 (F704-OR) and P2 pin-25 (F703-GY).
Measure the resistance between P2 pin-25 (F703-GY) and engine ground. Measure the resistance between P2 pin-1 (F704-OR) and engine ground.Expected Result:Resistance is greater than 20,000 Ohms for each measurement. Results:
OK - Proceed to next Step5.
Not OK - There is a short in the harness between the switch and ECM.Repair: Repair the harness or replace the harness.STOPTest Step 5. Check the Resistance Through the Harness
Short F704-OR and 998-BR at the ride control switch.
Set the multimeter on the 200 Ohm scale and measure the resistance between P2 pin-1 (F704-OR) and P1 pin-29 (998-BR).
Short F703-GY and 998-BR.
Measure the resistance between P2 pin-25 (F703-GY) and P1 pin-29 (998-BR).
Remove wire short.Expected Result:The resistance is less than 10 Ohms for each measurement. Results:
OK - Resistance is within acceptable limits. Proceed to next Step 6.
Not OK - There is an open or excessive resistance in the harness. Repair: Repair the harness or replace the harness.STOPTest Step 6. Short Switch Inputs At ECM
Disconnect J1/P1.
Remove wires F704-OR (P2 pin-1), F703-GY (P2 pin-25), and 998 BR (P1 pin-29) from the ECM connectors with a 121-9587 Wire Removal Tool .
Insert a wire with socket terminals at each end i
