Troubleshooting Test Steps Values Results
1. Check the Fuel Level
A. Remove the fuel tank cap from the fuel tank.
B. Check the vent port that is in the cap for debris. Remove any debris with compressed air.
C. Visually inspect the fuel level in the tank. Ensure that the fuel tank has an adequate amount of fuel to operate the engine.
D. Check the position of the fuel supply valve (if equipped). The valve must be in the full OPEN position.
Fuel level
Result: The fuel level is OK.
Proceed to Test Step 2.
Result: The fuel level is low.
Fill the tank with fuel. Proceed to Test Step 6.

2. Check the Fuel Pressure at the ARD Fuel Supply
A. Disconnect the ARD fuel line from the pump.
B. Install the FT-3155 Gauge Kit at the pump outlet port.
C. Turn the keyswitch to the ON position. Start the engine.
D. Establish communication between Cat ET and the ECM.
E. Select the "Aftertreatment Fuel Pump Relay Override" in order to activate the pump.
F. Override the pump and record the pressure from the pressure gauge.
G. Deactivate the override.
H. Turn the keyswitch to the OFF position.
I. The pressure must be within specifications. The pump pressure must be 1900 120 kPa (276 17 psi).
1900 120 kPa (276 17 psi)
Result:The pressure measured 1900 120 kPa (276 17 psi).
Proceed to Test Step 6.
Result:The pressure is less than 1900 120 kPa (276 17 psi).
Replace the primary fuel filter. Proceed to Test Step 3.
Result:The pressure measured 0 kPa (0 psi).
Inspect the wiring at the pump. If the wiring is OK and the pump does not activate, replace the pump cartridge. Refer to Special Instruction, REHS5009 and Illustration 3.

3. Check the Pressure Regulator
A. Turn the keyswitch to the ON position. Start the engine.
B. Establish communication between Cat ET and the ECM.
Select the"Aftertreatment Fuel Pump Relay Override" in order to activate the pump.
C. Record the pressure on the pressure gauge.
D. Turn the keyswitch to the OFF position.
1900 120 kPa (276 17 psi)
Result: The pressure measured 1900 120 kPa (276 17 psi).
Proceed to Test Step 6.
Result: The pressure did not measure 1900 120 kPa (276 17 psi). Replace the fuel pressure regulator located on the pump base. Refer to Illustration 3.
Proceed to Test Step 4.
4. Check the ARD Fuel Pump
A. Turn the keyswitch to the ON position. Start the engine.
B. Establish communication between Cat ET and the ECM.
C. Select the "Aftertreatment Fuel Pump Relay Override" in order to activate the pump.
D. Record the pressure on the pressure gauge.
E. Turn the keyswitch to the OFF position.
1900 120 kPa (276 17 psi)
Result:The pressure measured 1900 120 kPa (275.5 17.4 psi).
Proceed to Test Step 6.
Result:The pressure did not measure 1900 120 kPa (275.5 17.4 psi).
Replace the ARD fuel pump cartridge. Refer to Special Instruction, REHS5009
Proceed to Test Step 5.
5. Check the Fuel Diverter Valve
A. Turn the keyswitch to the ON position. Start the engine.
B. Establish communication between Cat ET and the ECM.
C. Select the"Aftertreatment Fuel Pump Relay Override" in order to activate the pump.
D. Record the pressure from the pressure gauge.
Replace the fuel diverter valve.
Proceed to Test Step 6.
6. Perform a Manual DPF Regeneration
This test must be performed through Cat ET. The Cat ET service tool enhances the diagnostics during the service test.
A. Turn the keyswitch to the ON position. Start the engine.
B. Establish communication between Cat ET and the ECM.
C. Start a Manual DPF regeneration using Cat ET.
Successful regeneration
Result:The manual DPF regeneration completed successfully.
Return to service.
Result:The manual DPF regeneration did not complete successfully.
Check the list of active diagnostic codes. Troubleshoot the code that applies to the failed regeneration. Contact your Cat dealer Technical Communicator (TC). For further assistance, your TC can confer with the Dealer Solutions Network (DSN).
