The engine support group is soft mounted and in severe applications the fabricated front engine support may fail on certain 245 and 245B Excavators. This support can be replaced. This Program is not intended to cover failed 6Y9980 Engine Mounts.

1. Remove the 7V0661 Panel Assembly, 9V0516 Door Assembly, and 9K9537 Grill Assembly from the left rear of the hood and guard group. Disconnect the hydraulic oil lines from the 4N1375 Hydraulic Oil Cooler Group.2. Remove the 4Nl368 Radiator Guard & Support Group, 7N9473 Radiator Group, and 4Nl375 Hydraulic Oil Cooler as a unit by performing the following steps.a) Remove the 7C3378 or 9Y7088 Radiator Brace (top tank to engine). The brace is not to be installed again.b) Drain the radiator (save the coolant) and disconnect the lines. Discard the bottom 7C3380 Radiator Pipe since a new 7E9174 Pipe will be installed in its place.c) Remove the 9Yl360 Guard Assembly and disconnect the 6N0449 Spider Assembly from the 9Yl360 Fan Drive Group.d) Remove the 9Y1360 Fan Drive Group.e) Remove the 4N2693 Tightener Arm Assembly from the 4N4649 Belt Tightener Group.f) Attach a suitable lifting device to the radiator guard group. Unbolt and remove the radiator and guard groups as a unit.3. Remove the 6N8344 Auxiliary Drive Pulley Group and the 4N1560 Crankshaft Damper Group.4. Replace the engine support as follows:a) Loosen all four mount assemblies.b) Raise the front of the engine just enough to take the load off the support.c) Replace the existing engine support with the new 7E9289 Support Assembly. Use eight 1D4574 Bolts and the existing 5P8245 Washers to install the support. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 135 N m (100 lb ft). While installing the support, replace the two 9W9950 Mount Assemblies and 9W7385 Sleeves with two 6Y9980 Mount Assemblies and 6Y6884 Sleeves. Leave the bolts loose at this time. Be sure to use two 6C3208 Bolts (165.1 mm (6.5" long)] and the existing washers. Some machines may have 9F6936 Bolts [152.4 mm (6.0" long)], do not use these 9F6936 Bolts.d) Install the new 7E9174 Radiator Pipe (bottom) and attach it to the engine support with the 4N4271 Bracket, 5S7379 Bolts and 8T4896 Washers.5. Replace the rear mounts as follows:a) Remove the two bolts holding the mount assemblies to the frame and raise the rear of the engine/pump drive to remove the mounts.b) Replace the two 9C1965 Bracket Assemblies with the two new 7E3594 Bracket Assemblies. When installing the two 6Y9980 Mount Assemblies and 6Y6884 Sleeves be sure to use two 6C3208 Bolts (165.1 mm (6.5" long)] and the existing washers. See Illustration 1.c) Tighten all four (front & rear) 6C3208 Bolts to a torque of 1150 N m (850 lb ft).6. Install the remaining parts that were removed for access to the engine. The 7C3378 or 9Y7088 Radiator Brace (top tank to engine) is not to be installed again.7. Add coolant and oil as necessary.Illustration 1. Illustration 2
