Information:

CMS Display. The CMS is an electronic monitoring system designed to display various system parameters. There are twelve system diagnostic lamps available. The lamps are located on the right side in four rows of three.Seven different engine/transmission parameters may be displayed on electronic gauges. The six left side gauges are arranged in two rows of three. The larger center gauge is the tachometer.Beneath the tachometer is a three digit display and beneath that a four digit display. The three digit display indicates which of the six left side gauges is being read. The four digit display is used for a tachometer but can also be used to display the six left side gauge readings. The illuminated arrows above the tachometer are used as synchronization indicators.CMS Panel Dimensions
Dimensions for mounting holes and overall envelope.Connecting the CMS Display
Wiring Diagram for CMS J6/P6 connection to ECM J1/P1 connector. 1. Connect (+)Battery Bus Bar to the positive terminal of the Start (Ignition) Switch. Connect the RUN terminal of the Start (Ignition) Switch to Pin-1 of P6 (CMS Connector). The preferred method is to connect both PORT and STBD CMS displays through the same ignition switch.2. Connect (-)Battery Bus Bar to Pin-2 of P6 (CMS Connector).3. Connect (-)Battery of Harness Code 1 to Pin-26 of P6 (CMS Connector).4. Connect (-)Battery of Harness Code 2 to Pin-28 of P6 (CMS Connector).5. Connect Pin-3 (CAT data link -) of the P1 Customer Connector to Pin-24 of the P6 (CMS Connector).6. Connect Pin-9 (CAT data link +) of the P1 Customer Connector to Pin-23 of the P6 (CMS Connector). For the connections in Step 5 and Step 6, use twisted pair of 16 AWG wires, approximately three twists per 25.4 mm (1.00 in) to connect data link (+) and data link (-). The length of the wires should NOT exceed 40 m (130 ft).7. Connect (-)Battery of Harness Code 4 to Pin-25 of P6 (CMS Connector). When Pin-25 is connected to (-)Battery Bus Bar, this connection disables the transmission temperature and pressure displays. This option can be used in installations that do not require a transmission.
Connect only ONE end of the shield to (-)Battery Bus Bar. Do NOT ground the other end of the shield.
Dimmer Switch
8. Connect (-)Battery Bus Bar through a N/O momentary contact (Display Dimming) switch to Pin-5 of the P6 (CMS Connector). This will allow the brightness of the display to change every time the switch is closed. Two dimmer switches MUST be installed, one for the PORT CMS and one for the STBD CMS. The required method is to connect separate dimming switches for each CMS display.Display Scroll Switch
9. Connect (-)Battery Bus Bar through a N/O momentary (Display Scroll) switch to Pin-8 of the P6 (CMS Connector). This will enable the user to scroll through different engine/transmission parameters every time the switch is closed. Two scroll switches MUST be installed, one for the PORT CMS and one for the STBD CMS. The required method is to connect separate Display Scroll switches for each CMS display.U.S./Metric Switch (If Required)
Automatic default setting for the CMS is U.S. units. If U.S. units only are required, no switch connection is needed.Metric units are enabled when switched to (-)Battery. If Metric units only are required, a permanent connection to (-)Battery is needed.10. Connect (-)Battery Bus Bar through a (U.S./Metric) switch to Pin-20 of the P6 (CMS Connector). This will enable the user to select display units (U.S./Metric). The CMS will display metric units when the switch is connected to (-)Battery Bus Bar and U.S. units when the switch is open. Two U.S./Metric switches MUST be installed, one for the PORT CMS and one for the STBD CMS. The required method is to connect separate U.S./Metric switches for each CMS display.Connecting the Optional CMS Horn Output
The CMS provides a horn output to warn the user of any engine diagnostic and/or engine warning condition present. An additional switch can be installed to enable or disable the horn. The horn driver is a 300 mAmp sourcing type driver.
Optional connection to CMS Horn Alarm.1. Connect Pin-3 of the P6 (CMS Connector) to Pin-1 of the horn.2. Connect Pin-2 of the horn to Pin-1 of the Enable/Disable Horn switch.3. Connect Pin-2 of the Enable/Disable Horn switch to (-)Battery Bus Bar.Connecting Multiple CMS Displays
Multiple display locations for each engine installation.Additional CMS displays (up to five per engine) can be installed to allow for multiple station installation. The CMS for each station can be connected as shown in the illustration.
Connect only ONE end of the shield to (-)Battery Bus Bar. Do NOT ground the other end of the shield.
For additional stations, make multiple connections to the CAT data link (+) and CAT data link (-). The preferred method is through a terminal strip with shielded wire. The length of the wires should NOT exceed 40 m (130 ft). Twisted shielded 16 AWG wire should be used, approximately three twists per 25.4 mm (1.00 in), to connect CAT data link (+) and CAT data link (-).
