Introduction
This Special Instruction gives the procedures for converting an engine that is configured for use with an IMRM (Improved Multiple Row Module) Radiator to an engine that is compatible with a Folded Core Radiator. The original D11N engine arrangements that used the folded core radiators have been cancelled and replaced by new part numbers. The new D11N engines and the remanufactured D11N engines are configured for use with the IMRM. This Special Instruction covers the parts that are needed and the rework that is necessary in order to convert a new engine or a remanufactured engine for use with a folded core radiator.Description Of Conversion
When you are replacing the MUI 8N-9602 Engine Arrangement or the EUI 7E-9077 Engine Arrangement with a new engine or a remanufactured engine, you will need to replace some of the radiator parts in order to make the engine compatible with a folded core radiator. The new engines are the MUI 147-0811 Engine Arrangement and the EUI 127-4511 Engine Arrangement . The remanufactured engines are the MUI 0R-3950 Engine Arrangement and the EUI 0R-3980 Engine Arrangement .When you order a 127-4511 Engine Arrangement or a 147-0811 Engine Arrangement , you will be provided with some of the mechanical parts that are needed in order to convert the engine to the folded core radiator. Various electrical components will also be provided. The additional parts that are specified in this Special Instruction will need to be ordered.Note: The remanufactured engine may have been newly produced. Engine serial numbers (S/N: 5TL228; 5TL232; 5TL233) are remanufactured engines. These engines should be treated as new engines for this Special Instruction.

(4) Core Plug.If the regulator housing mounting bolts (3) are on the bottom of the lower 8N-9624 Regulator Housing (2), a core plug (4) under the left hand water regulator must be removed in order to allow the engine to cool correctly. There is a possibility that a 1W-2074 Housing (1) may be supplied with a remanufactured engine. In this case, the mounting bolts (3) for the 1W-2074 Housing penetrate through the lower 8N-9624 Regulator Housing (2). If you have received an engine with a 1W-2074 Housing (1), no rework of the regulator housing is necessary.

(5) Drilled Hole. (6) 127-4444 Regulator Housing Assembly .If the regulator housing mounting bolts (3) penetrate at the top, a second hole (5) with a 19 mm (0.7480 inch) diameter must be drilled. See Illustration 4. The 127-4444 Regulator Housing Assembly (6) has only one orifice. The folded core radiator requires two. The 127-4444 Regulator Housing Assembly (6) can be replaced with an upper 107-5862 Regulator Housing , a lower 9Y-4090 Regulator Housing , and a 7N-4927 Housing Cover Gasket . The 127-4511 Engine Arrangement and the 147-0811 Engine Arrangement will be shipped with the 127-4444 Regulator Housing Assembly (6) .Water Elbow
Note: The engine may not cool properly if the correct water elbow is not used.
