Safety CHECK THE TORQUE OF THE TERMINAL LUG SCREWS ON THE RADIATOR FAN MOTOR CONTACTOR AND MOTOR RELAY ON CERTAIN PM3516B AND 3516B GENERATOR SET ENGINES
7272 PI10067
This Program must be administered as soon as possible. When reporting the repair, use "PI10067" as the Part number and "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description Code. Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI10067" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
PROBLEM
The radiator fan motor contactor and the motor relay may have been assembled and installed without the proper torque on the terminal lug screws. Lug screws can loosen without proper torque, during normal operation, causing an increase in electrical resistance that could result in a severe electrical hazard and component failure.

Safety ? CHECK TORQUE ON TERMINAL LUG SCREWS FOR FAN MOTOR CONTACTOR AND MOTOR RELAY
MODELS INVOLVED ? CERTAIN 3516B GENERATOR SETS
Dear Caterpillar Product Owner:
The terminal lug screws for the fan motor contactor and the motor relay must be checked for proper torque on the products listed below. Without proper torque, terminal lug screws can loosen during normal operation, which can result in a severe electrical hazard and component failure, with the risk for shock or fire. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service. Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated April 5, 2001 when scheduling this service.
We regret the inconvenience this may cause you, but urge you to have this service performed for your added safety and satisfaction.

Rework Procedure
Turn off all supply power, prevent the engine from starting and lock out the equipment before working on or inside equipment.
Qualified electrical personnel only should perform this service.
To confirm that power is off, use a properly rated device that senses voltage.
Locate and identify the radiator motor control circuit breaker and its contactor. It is installed either in the wall mounted radiator fan motor control panel or inside the utility cubicle, in units equipped with the floor standing utility switch-gear.
Insert a small flat top screwdriver into the plastic tabs and pry out the intermediate terminal lug screw cover. These screws are located on the top of the Siemens brand relay (1912306) and bottom of the Siemens brand contactor (1912305) and create an electrical junction for phase connections and also support the relay assembly on the contactor.
Tighten the lug terminal screws to 70 lb-in using a 10mm socket wrench.
Replace all devices, doors and covers before turning power on to this equipment.
NOTE: It is recommended to check and torque the cable terminal lug screws on the bottom of the relay and top of the contactor to 70 lb-in, as these should be periodically inspected and the torque checked during normal maintenance. Identify the type of motor circuit breaker in this fan motor circuit, if it is a Siemens brand circuit breaker part number, 1912307, replace it with the circuit breaker, 2029033, under program PI10050.
