Problem
The service life of the 9Y5308 Throttle Assembly can be increased on certain 3408 and 3412 SI Industrial Engines by installing a throttle body thrust washer.

Model Identification Number 3408* 6NB1-763 3412* 7DB1-527 * Industrial Engines with PSG type governor only.
Parts Needed
1 - 4P2024 Washer 1 - 4P2026 Stop Collar 1 - 6L5296 Screw
Action Required
1. Remove 6L5296 Screw, 8L4470 Lever Assembly and 7W1163 Washer on 9Y4603 Throttle Assembly. See the illustration. 2. Install the 4P2024 Washer on the shaft so that tab on washer fits in slot on throttle assembly. 3. Close the throttle plate. 4. Place 4P2026 Collar on shaft and line up one of the holes in collar with hole in shaft such that holes are concentric with each other as shown in the illustration. 5. Install the 6L5296 Screw in the 4P2026 Collar (finger tight). 6. Open throttle plate approximately 30 degrees and tighten the 6L5296 Screw. 7. Orient throttle assembly so that shaft is vertical, then open and close throttle plate. Assembly is OK if throttle plate moves freely and "snaps" when closed. If throttle plate feels stiff and/or does not "snap" closed, the 4P2026 Collar will need to be repositioned. First check where the throttle plate is rubbing either closest to tabbed washer or farthest from tabbed washer. Proceed to Step 8. 8. With throttle plate closed, remove 6L5296 Screw and align shaft hole with: a) next lower collar hole if throttle plate rubs closest to washer. Proceed to Step 5. or b) next higher collar hole if throttle plate rubs farthest from washer. Proceed to Step 5. 9. If all holes have been tried and throttle plate still does not move freely, the collar should be ground on bottom side to fit (be sure to keep 125 u surface finish). ****** IMAGE: SEBE4361.00001.001 CAPTION: Location And Orientation Of Parts
