Information:
1. Open the right access door to the engine compartment. 2. Remove four bolts (1) and washers as shown.3. Remove cover (2). 4. Disconnect electrical connection (3). 5. Remove two bolts (4) from the P-clamps. 6. Remove bolt (5) from the shield bracket. 7. Remove three bolts (6) and washers.8. Reposition governor control unit (7) within the pump compartment. 9. Remove four bolts (8) that hold the left middle shield (9). 10. Remove bolts (10) to free the lower end of upper shield. 11. Remove the bolts that hold upper shield (12) and bar (11).12. Remove upper shield (12) and bar (11). 13. Remove bolts (14).14. Remove right lower shield (13). 15. Remove bolts (16).16. Remove left lower shield (15). 17. Disconnect hose assembly (17). Cap or plug immediately. Mark or identify for later installation.18. Disconnect hose assembly (18). Cap or plug immediately. Mark or identify for later installation.19. Disconnect hose assembly (19). Cap or plug immediately. Mark or identify for later installation.20. Disconnect hose assembly (20). Cap or plug immediately. Mark or identify for later installation.21. Disconnect hose assembly (21). Cap or plug immediately. Mark or identify for later installation.22. Disconnect hose assembly (22). Cap or plug immediately. Mark or identify for later installation.23. Disconnect hose assembly (23). Cap or plug immediately. Mark or identify for later installation.24. Remove four bolts (24) (not shown) and washers. Plug openings immediately. Check O-ring for wear or damage. Replace if necessary. 25. Loosen two bolts (26).26. Remove four bolts (25).27. Remove guard (27). 28. Disconnect electrical connection (28).29. Remove bolt (29) and P-clamp to begin wiring harness (30) disconnection.30. Remove ground strap (31) from the engine block. 31. Remove bolt (34) and P-clamp to continue wiring harness (30) disconnection.32. Loosen nut (32).33. Loosen nut (33).34. Disconnect cable assembly (36) from the pulley. The pulley has a slot in which the end of the cable slides.35. Disconnect cable assembly (35) from the pulley. The pulley has a slot in which the end of the cable slides. 36. Remove two screws (37) to continue removing wiring harness (30). 37. Remove nut (38) from the air heater to complete the disconnection of wiring harness (30). Pull wiring harness (30) down and under the engine for ease in removal and installation. 38. Loosen wire clamp (40).39. Disconnect fuel line (39). Cap or plug immediately to avoid contamination.40. Loosen wire clamp (42).41. Disconnect fuel line (41). Cap or plug immediately to avoid contamination. 42. Loosen hose clamp (43).43. Disconnect upper radiator hose assembly (44). 44. Loosen hose clamp (45).45. Disconnect upper heater hose (46). 46. Remove bolt (47) and P-clamp that hold upper heater hose.47. Loosen hose clamp (50).48. Disconnect lower heater hose (51).49. Loosen hose clamp (49).50. Disconnect air intake hose (48). 51. Loosen hose clamp (52) (not shown).52. Disconnect lower radiator hose assembly (53). 53. Loosen two screws (54) to begin disconnection of wiring harness (56). Mark or identify for later installation.54. Remove two ty-wraps (53) from the alternator adjusting bracket.55. Disconnect electrical connections (57).56. Disconnect electrical connections (58).57. Disconnect electrical connection (60).58. Disconnect electrical connection (62) (not shown).59. Remove two P-clamp (61) from alternator.60. Remove P-clamp (59) that hold air compressor lines.61. Remove bolt (63) to continue disconnection of wiring harness (56).
Photo is only for showing location of Call Out (64) and (65).62. Remove bolt (64) (not shown) on P-clamp holding the starter wires to the engine block.63. Disconnect two electrical connections (65) (not shown) near the P-clamp. Mark or identify for later installation.64. Remove nut under the red boot to disconnect three electrical connections (66).65. Remove two screws to disconnect electrical connections (67) and (68) from the starter solenoid. Mark or identify for later installation. 66. Loosen bolt (69) and adjusting bolt (70) to reposition air conditioning compressor V-belt (71).67. Disconnect the electrical connection from the air compressor.68. Remove the four bolts from the air compressor and reposition to the area between the two engine supports for ease in removing the engine. Refer to the last photo of the procedure for positioning and support of the air compressor.
Freon has NOT been evacuated, be careful when supporting the compressor or personal injury could occur.
69. Remove bolt (72) and washer, washer and rubber mount from the left front engine mount.70. Remove the bolt, washer, washer and rubber mount from the right front engine mount. The longer of the four bolts that attach the engine mounts go into the front right and left engine mounts when installing. 71. Remove bolt (73) washer, washer and rubber mount from the left rear engine mount. 72. Remove bolt (74) washer, washer and rubber mount from the right rear engine mount.
The photo shows the fan not removed, however it is much easier to remove the engine with the fan removed.73. Attach a hoist and chains in lifting eyes (75).74. Remove engine (76) from the engine compartment. The engine compartment is very tight, raise the engine slowly and check that all the lines, hoses and components are disconnected.
The air conditioning compressor can be supported as shown with wire so that the freon does not have to be evacuated. For installation of the engine, reverse the removal steps.End By:a. install fanb. install engine hood assembly
