Remove the crankcase guards. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankcase Guard - Remove and Install". Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the engine oil into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Refill Capacities".

Install Tooling (A) to oil pan (2). The weight of oil pan (2) is approximately 23 kg (50 lb). Disconnect hose assembly (3).
Remove bolts (1) in order to remove oil pan (2). Remove plate (4) and gaskets (5).
If necessary, remove bolts (7) and gasket (6).
If necessary, remove bolts (8) and remove tube assembly (9). Remove the O-ring seal from the tube assembly. Remove bolts (11) and remove screen assembly and tube assembly (10). Remove the O-ring seal from the tube assembly. Installation Procedure

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

Install the O-ring seal on screen assembly and tube assembly (10). Lubricate the O-ring seal with clean engine oil. Position screen assembly and tube assembly (10). Install bolts (11).
Install the O-ring seal on tube assembly (9). Lubricate the O-ring seal with clean engine oil and install tube assembly (9) in the engine oil pump. Install bolts (8).
If necessary, install gasket (7) and bolts (6).
Install plate (4) and gaskets (5) onto oil pan (2). The weight of oil pan (2) is approximately 23 kg (50 lb).
Apply Tooling (B) between gaskets (5). Use Tooling (A) in order to position oil pan (2). Install bolts (1).
Connect hose assembly (3).
Fill the engine oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Refill Capacities". End By:
Install the crankcase guards. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankcase Guard - Remove and Install".
