Information:

Some system configuration parameters are configurable by the customer in order to suit the customer particular application. The configuration file contains all of the adjustable settings for the monitoring system. The engine is shipped from the factory with default values for these parameters. In most cases, the parameters will not need to be changed. The system configuration parameters must be reprogrammed if an ECM is replaced and/or the engine rating is reprogrammed. System configuration parameters will not need to be reprogrammed if the flash file is replaced. Proper values for these parameters are available on Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET). Certain configuration parameters are also stamped on the engine information plate. If the default settings for the parameters have been modified, there will be no record at the factory of the changes. These settings can be downloaded into a laptop computer and saved to a file. The customer can then use the file in order to ease the future replacement of the ECM.No password is required for programming a new ECM during the first 100 hours of service life. This 100 hour "free configuration" feature enables the customer to tailor some of the programmable setpoints to the requirements of the installation.Note: If the parameters that are protected with the factory passwords are changed, the Caterpillar warranty may be voided. If a programmable parameter has not been programmed, the ECM will generate a 630-2 diagnostic code. The unprogrammed parameters will be set to default. Certain aspects of the engine performance and engine monitoring may be affected. Program the missing parameter.Parameter Descriptions
Equipment ID
This parameter allows the customer to enter a description into the ECM in order to identify the engine application. A maximum of 17 characters can be entered in the field.Engine Serial Number
The engine serial number must be programmed to match the engine serial number that is stamped on the engine information plate. The engine serial number is not preprogrammed into a replacement ECM.ECM Serial Number
The serial number of the ECM that is stored in the ECM memorySoftware Group Part Number
The part number of the flash file that is currently installed in the ECMSoftware Group Release Date
The release date of the flash file that is currently installed in the ECMSoftware Group Description
The description of the application for the flash file that is currently installed in the ECMFLS
This parameter represents the fuel system adjustment that was made at the factory in order to fine-tune the fuel system. The correct value for this parameter is stamped on the engine information plate. Only change this value if the engine is rerated or if a new ECM has been installed. Factory passwords are required to change this parameter.FTS
This parameter is another parameter that represents a fuel system adjustment that was performed at the factory in order to fine-tune the fuel system. Only change this value if the engine is rerated or if a new ECM has been installed. Factory passwords are required to change this parameter.Cold Cylinder Cutout
The cold cylinder cutout automatically stops fuel injection to cylinders that are not firing. The fuel injection is stopped to the cylinders until the engine reaches operating temperature. Idle Cylinder Cutout Enable Status
The idle cylinder cutout will determine the availability of a cylinder cutout test at idle.Engine Fan Control
The engine fan control solenoid controls the engine fan speed by bypassing the engine oil pressure from the variable fan clutch. The fan control solenoid is controlled by the engine ECM.Engine Cooling Fan Map
Customer Password #1
This parameter allows the customer to lock out certain parameters by entering a password. Customer passwords must be used to unlock any parameters that are protected by customer passwords before the parameter can be changed. Factory passwords are required if this password is lost.Customer Password #2
This parameter allows the customer to lock out certain parameters by entering a password. Customer passwords must be used to unlock any parameters that are protected by customer passwords before the parameter can be changed. Factory passwords are required if this password is lost.Total Tattletale
The total tattletale counts the number of changes to system parameters.Parameter Table
