2. Remove fan guard (1).3. Loosen hose clamp (2).4. Disconnect hose (3).5. Remove two bolts (4).6. Remove four bolts (5). 7. Remove two bolts (6).8. Remove water pump (7) and O-rings. Be careful not to lose or drop the O-ring seals located behind the water pump. Replace O-rings when installing the water pump. For installation of the water pump, reverse the removal steps.9. Fill the radiator with coolant to the correct level. Refer to the Operation & Maintenance Manual for more information.Disassemble & Assemble Water Pump
Start By:a. remove water pump 1. Remove six bolts (1) and cover (2). Check the gasket under cover (2) for wear or damage. Replace if necessary. 2. Remove O-ring (3). Check O-ring for wear or damage. Replace if necessary. 3. Install Tool (A). Remove gear (4). 4. Use a suitable lever or pry bar to remove seal (5). Replace seal (5) when assembling. 5. Press shaft (6), seal (7) (not shown) and impeller (8) (not shown) out of housing (9). Replace seal (7) when assembling. The following steps are for the assembly of the water pump. 6. Clean the inside of the pump body, especially the bearing bore and the counterbore for the water seal before beginning any assembly.7. Apply 9S3265 Retaining Compound to the outer surface of the bearing, keep it away from the ends of the bearing.8. Support the gear end of the pump body.9. (3054 Four-Cylinder Engine) Put the bearing and shaft assembly in position with the bearing square to the pump body and the shortest end of the shaft in the pump body. Use a press and a suitable adaptor which applies the force to the bearing and not the shaft. Press in the bearing until the end of the bearing is level with the bottom of the counterbore for the water seal. After assembly, wipe off the excess compound from the end of the bearing.
Make sure that the water seal is not contaminated by oil or grease and if held by hand, only by the edge of the flange. Do not damage the ring of green sealant applied to the body of the water seal just behind the flange.
10. Hold the water seal by the edge of the flange. With the widest end of the water seal towards the bearing, push the seal on the shaft until it is against the chamfer of the counterbore. Make sure the seal is square with the bore and press the seal into the counterbore with a suitable adaptor, until the outer flange is in contact with the pump body. Make sure the adapter only applies force to the outer flange of the seal.11. With the seal in position, continue to apply force for approximately ten seconds to ensure that the seal remains in position.12. Hold the pump with the gear end of the shaft on a suitable support and with a suitable distance piece and a flat bar to press the impeller onto the shaft to the following dimension 8.1 to 8.5 mm (0.310 to 0.330 inch). After installation, be sure the impeller will turn easily. Apply 9S3265 Retaining Compound to the impeller if the original impeller is used again. Wipe off any excess compound after assembly.13. Turn the pump over and position for support while removing the studs if they are to be removed.14. Lubricate the oil seal with clean engine oil. Install the oil seal with the flat side of the seal towards the bearing. With a suitable adaptor, press the oil seal into the body until the rear of the seal is level with the end of the pump. When the seal is installed, continue to apply force for ten seconds to ensure the oil seal stays in position when the adaptor is removed.15. Position the pump with the impeller end of the shaft on a suitable support. Press the gear onto the shaft to the dimension 0.6 to 2.6 mm (0.02 to 0.01 inch). Apply 9S3265 Retaining Compound to the bore of the gear if the original gear is used again. Wipe off any excess compound after assembly.16. Install a new gasket to the pump body.17. Start By:a. remove water pump The latest 3056 Six-Cylinder Engine water pump has a larger bearing assembly which has an integral oil seal. A visual way of identifying is that the new water pump bearing extends approximately 5 mm (0.20 inch) past the end of the pump body. 1. Remove six bolts (1) and cover (2). Support the drive end of the pump, use a suitable adapter to press out the shaft and bearing assembly and throw it away. Remove the impeller from the pump body.5. With a suitable support under the impeller end of the pump, press out the water seal and throw it away. The following steps are for the assembly of the water pump.6. Clean the inside of the pump body, especially the bearing bore and the counterbore for the water seal before beginning any assembly.7. Apply 9S3265 Retaining Compound to the outer surface of the bearing, keep it away from the ends of the bearing.8. Support the impeller end of the pump body.9. Put the bearing and shaft assembly in position with the bearing square to the pump body and the longest end of the shaft in the pump body. Use a press and a suitable adaptor which applies the force to the bearing and not the shaft. Press in the bearing until the rear face of the bearing is 21.0 to 21.5 mm (0.830 to 0.850 inch) above the rear face of the pump body.10. Apply 9S3263 Thread Lock to the bore of the
