Introduction
Location Of Ground Drive Engine
(1) Ground drive engine (engine B).Ground drive engine (1) is a Caterpillar 3208 Diesel Engine. The ground drive engine (engine B) supplies the power for the track drive system, for the conveyor systems and for the auxiliary system.
Location Of Pump Drive Gearbox
(2) Auxiliary Pump. (3) Track drive pump. (4) Pump drive gearbox. (5) Dual section conveyor pump.Track drive gearbox (4) is mounted on the rear of the ground drive engine (engine B). The pump drive gearbox transmits the power from the ground drive engine (engine B) to track drive pump (3) and dual section conveyor pump (5). Auxiliary pump (2) is mounted to and driven by the track drive pump. The track drive pump supplies the track drive system with pressurized hydraulic oil to drive the three track motors. Make reference to PR-1000C Track Drive And Brakes, KENR1868.The dual section conveyor pump provides the conveyor systems with pressurized hydraulic oil to drive the upper and lower conveyor motors. Make reference to PR-1000C Conveyor Systems, KENR1870.The auxiliary pump, which is mounted on the rear of the track drive pump, provides the auxiliary system with pressurized hydraulic oil to operate the machine controls. Make reference to PR-1000C Auxiliary Hydraulic System, KENR1691.
Location Of Water Spray System Pump
(6) Water spray system pump.Water spray system pump (6) is located on the left side of the ground drive engine (engine B). The water spray system pump provides the water to the spray nozzles in the rotor housing and the lower conveyor enclosure. Make reference to PR-1000C Air And Water Systems, KENR1693.
Air Compressor Location
(7) Air compressor.Air compressor (7) is located on the right side of the ground drive engine (engine B). The air compressor provides the compressed air for operation of the air hammer used to change rotor bits, and for operation of the air cylinder that engages and disengages the clutch in the power take-off. Make reference to PR-1000C Air And Water Systems, KENR1693.
Air Cleaner Location
(8) Air cleaner. The ground drive engine (engine B) is protected against dust and other foreign material by a dry type, induction air cleaner (8) that has a centrifugal pre-cleaner, a main filter element and a safety filter element. As the induction air passes through the pre-cleaner fins, it is given a cyclonic twist that separates most of the dust from the air and sends it into the dust cup where it is collected. Any particles not removed by the pre-cleaner are trapped by the main filter element. The safety filter element protects the engine if the main filter element is damaged. The service indicator shows when the main filter element requires service.
Cooling Fan Drive Location
(9) Cooling fan drive. The cooling fan drive (9) is belt-driven from the front of the ground drive engine (engine B). The cooling fan is mounted at the rear of the large air box. The air box contains the hydraulic oil cooler and both engine radiators. The cooling fan pulls air through the hydraulic oil cooler and the radiators and discharges the air to the rear of the machine.Pump Drive Gearbox
Pump Drive Gearbox Components
(1) Pump housing. (2) Pinion drive gear. (3) Flywheel housing cover. (4) Input shaft. (5) Drive plate. (6) Drive adapter sleeves. (7) Drive gears. The pump drive gearbox is mounted to the ground drive engine (engine B) with flywheel housing cover (3). Power from the ground drive engine (engine B) is transmitted to pump drive gearbox through drive shaft (4) and drive plate (5). The drive plate is bolted to the engine flywheel. The drive shaft is splined to pinion drive gear (2). The pinion drive gear meshes with two drive gears (7). The drive gears mesh with drive adapter sleeves (6). The adapter sleeves are splined and mesh with the dual section conveyor pump and the track drive pump.Rotor Drive Engine
Introduction
Location Of Rotor Drive Engine
(1) Rotor drive engine (engine A).Rotor drive engine (1) is a Caterpillar 3412 Diesel Engine. The rotor drive engine (engine A) supplies the power for operating the rotor.
Power Take-Off Location
(2) Power take-off. (3) Power take-off belt bands.Power from the rotor drive engine is transferred from power take-off (2) to power take-off bands (3). The power take-off bands rotate the two rotor drive shafts. Each rotor drive shaft turns a set of rotor belt bands which transmits the power to a rotor torque hub. The rotor torque hub inside each end of the rotor drum turns the rotor. For more information on the operation of the rotor refer to PR-1000C Rotor, KENR1869.For more information on the operation of the power take-off refer to PR-1000C Air And Water Systems, KENR1693.
Air Cleaner Location
(4) Air cleaners. The rotor drive engine (engine A) is protected against dust and other foreign material by two dry type, induction air cleaners (4) which each have a pre-cleaner, a main filter element and a safety filter element. As the induction air passes through the pre-cleaner, most of the dust from the air and falls to the bottom of the pre-cleaner. Any particles not removed by the pre-cleaner are trapped by the main filter element. The safety filter element protects the engine if the main filter element is damaged. The service indicator on each air cleaner shows when the main filter element requires service.
