The engine will be derated.    The following background information is related to this procedure:The engine has electronic unit injectors that are controlled by the Electronic Control Module (ECM). The ECM sends a pulse to each injector solenoid. The pulse is sent at the correct time and for the correct duration for a given engine load and engine speed. Use this procedure to identify the cause of the diagnostic code. Use this procedure to repair the system.If an injector is replaced, then the correct injector trim file must be programmed into the ECM. The injector trim file allows each individual injector to be fine tuned for optimum performance. The ECM will generate the following diagnostic code if the injector codes are not programmed:
268-02 Programmed Parameter Fault erratic, intermittent, or incorrectNote: Discard all fuel injection lines after use. Fuel injection lines must only be used one time.Refer to service Troubleshooting, "Injector Trim File - Install" for further information.Use the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) in order to perform the "Fuel System Verification - Test.". The "Fuel System Verification - Test." is used to check that the system operates correctly after a repair has been made.

Electrical shock hazard. The electronic unit injector system uses 67-73 volts.
Turn the keyswitch to the OFF position. A strong electrical shock hazard is present if the power is not removed.
