Information:
1. Disconnect control linkage (1) from governor.2. Disconnect line (3) for the fuel ratio control.3. Remove the cable (2) for shutoff control.4. Disconnect oil lines (6) and (5) from the governor.5. Remove six bolts (4) that hold governor to governor drive housing.6. Remove the governor. Weight is 40 lb. (18 kg).Install Governor
1. Put the governor on engine with lever on governor engaged in groove (slot) in rack.2. Install the bolts that hold governor to governor drive housing.3. Connect line for the oil pressure gauge.4. Connect the line for oil pressure switch.5. Connect the line to the fuel ratio control. Install the cable for shutoff control.6. Connect control linkage to the governor.Disassemble Governor
start by: a) remove governorb) remove fuel ratio control with override 1. Remove covers (1) and (2) from the governor. 2. Remove the high and low idle screws (3).3. Remove the bolts (6) that hold levers to shaft.4. Remove the levers (7). Remove the shaft (4).5. Remove bolt (5) that holds housing to governor. Remove housing (8).6. Remove the seals from housing (8). 7. Remove the stop group (9).8. Remove the screw that holds the stop collar. Remove the stop collar (10).9. Remove the spring and seat.10. Remove the four bolts (11) that hold governor housing. Remove the governor housing (12). 11. Remove speed limiter plug (13), gasket (14), spring (15), and plunger (16).12. Remove the lever (17) from the shaft.13. Remove the governor spring, seat, spring and washer. 14. Remove the bolt (19) that holds lever assembly (18) on shaft.15. Remove the shaft (20) from governor housing. Remove the bearings and seal from governor housing.16. Remove the lever assembly (18). 17. Push the pin (21) from lever (18).18. Remove the spring (22) and plunger (23). 19. Remove the three bolts (27) and lock (28) that hold weight assembly to governor drive housing.20. Remove the two bolts (26) and locks. Push cover assembly (24) up and remove the weight assembly (25). 21. Remove the ring (30) from the seat. Remove the pin (29). 22. Remove the seat (31), bolt (32), washers (33) and spring (34).23. Remove the sleeve and bearing assembly from the weight assembly. 24. Remove the ring (37) that holds bearing assembly on sleeve (35).25. Remove bearing (38) and races (36) from sleeve (35). 26. Remove the valve (42) from piston (41).27. Remove the ring (39) that holds cylinder to weight assembly. Remove the weight assembly.28. Remove piston (41) and sleeve (40) from the cylinder (43).29. Remove the O-ring seal from the sleeve (40). 30. Remove the cover and shaft assembly (44) as a unit from the drive housing.31. Remove gear (45) from the pin assembly. 33. Remove piston rod end (54) and locknut (55) from the receiving piston (56). 34. Remove piston (56), bushing (58) and springs (57) from the housing assembly. 35. Remove seat (59) from housing assembly with tool (A). 36. Remove wire, bolts (61) and bearing retainer (60). 37. Remove drive shaft and bearing assembly (62) from base housing with a soft hammer.Assemble Governor
1. Install the drive shaft and bearing assembly (1) in the base plate housing. 2. Install retainer plate (2) and three screws. There is a 1/8" (3.2 mm) space between the retainer and the housing. Install wire in the screw heads. 3. Install seat in the control housing with a press and tool (A) until the seat is even with the housing land. See location (3).
Inspect all pistons and shafts for damage and repair as necessary. Put lubricant on components before assembly.
4. Install springs (7), piston (8), bushing (6), locknut (5) and piston rod end (4). 5. Put lever assembly (9) in position and install two screws to hold it in place. 6. Put spool (11) in housing and install lever (10) on spool. Install cotter pin to hold lever in position. 7. Install pump drive gear assembly (12). 8. Install ball head drive gear (13) and cotter pin on the pump drive gear. 9. Install spring (15) and actuating piston assembly (14) in the control housing. Install a cotter pin in the piston link to hold assembly in position until the governor base is installed. 10. Install pilot valve bushing (16), pilot valve plunger (17) and spring assembly (18) in the control housing. 11. Turn drive shaft (19) to make an alignment of the drive shaft lug with the slot (opening) in the pilot valve bushing (16).12. Install governor base (20) on the control assembly. Install five screws. The cotter pin in the actuating piston assembly can now be removed. 13. Install spring (22) and rod and pin assembly (21) in ball head (23). Install bearing (24) and nut (25). Count the number of turns to remove nut from disassembly section. 14. Install ball head assembly (26) in the control assembly. 15. Put floating lever (27) in the rod end pin (28). Push piston rod end (29) down with a screwdriver and install floating lever in the piston rod end.
Do not install pin in the floating lever unless lever can be moved freely.
16. Install pin (30) and cotter pin in position to hold floating lever in position. 17. Inspect gasket (32) on the governor base and make a replacement if damaged.18. Install case (31) in position on the base. Install four screws to hold case in position. 19. Install pin and cotter pin in the power lever and power piston link (33) and the compensating adjusting and actuating links (34).20. Make sure the load indicator pointer is at 8.5 on the panel. 21. Install spring (36) in the ball head assembly.22. Use a soft cloth and a vise grip to turn terminal shaft (37) and power lever down. If
