J1939 Code and Description CDL Code and Description Comments
101-13
Engine Crankcase Pressure : Out of Calibration 101-13
Crankcase Air Pressure Sensor : Out of Calibration During key on, the signal voltage from the crankcase air pressure sensor indicated a crankcase air pressure greater than +/- 1.5 kPa (0.2 psi).
Reference sensor: None
3251-13
Aftertreatment #1 DPF Differential Pressure : Out of Calibration 2458-13
DPF #1 Differential Pressure Sensor : Out of Calibration During key on, the signal voltage from the diesel particulate filter #1 differential pressure sensor indicated a dpf differential pressure greater than +/- 2 kPa (0.3 psi).
The 2458-13 will not activate for several hours if the ambient temperature is below 7° C (45° F) or if an active regeneration has not been performed.
Reference sensor: None
3563-13
Engine Intake Manifold #1 Absolute Pressure : Out of Calibration 1785-13
Intake Manifold Pressure Sensor : Out of Calibration During key on, the signal voltage from the Intake Manifold pressure sensor indicated an Intake Manifold pressure greater than +/- 18 kPa (3 psi) from the Atmospheric Pressure sensor.
Reference sensor: Atmospheric Pressure Sensor
3609-13
DPF #1 Intake Pressure : Out of Calibration 3464-13
DPF #1 Intake Pressure Sensor : Out of Calibration During key on, the signal voltage from the diesel particulate filter #1 intake pressure sensor indicated a dpf intake pressure greater than +/- 6 kPa (1 psi) from the atmospheric pressure sensor.
Reference sensor: Atmospheric Pressure Sensor Note: The engine coolant temperature must be greater than 0° C (32° F) before beginning this procedure.Recommended Actions

Troubleshooting Test Steps Values Results
1. Check for Codes
A. Establish communication between Cat® Electronic Technician (ET) and the ECM . Refer to Troubleshooting, "Electronic Service Tools", if necessary.
B. Download the "Warranty Report" from the ECM before performing any troubleshooting or clearing diagnostic trouble codes.
C. Wait at least 30 seconds in order for the diagnostic codes to become active.
Codes
Result: There is an active or there is a logged -13 code.
Proceed to Test Step 2.
2. Check for Debris
A. Turn the keyswitch to OFF.
B. Check the suspect sensor for debris. If applicable, check the reference sensor for debris. Check the sensor measurement port for blockage by debris.
C. If debris is found, clear the debris from the measurement port and replace the suspect sensor.
D. Turn the keyswitch to ON.
E. Check for -13 codes. Wait at least 30 seconds in order for the diagnostic codes to become active.
Debris
Result: There is an active or there is a logged -13 code. The sensor port is not blocked by debris.
Proceed to Test Step 3.
Result: A -13 code is not present. Return the unit to service.
Result: There are multiple -13 codes present and the codes have a reference sensor.
Repair: Replace the reference sensor. Verify that the problem is resolved.
3. Inspect the Sensor Connector for Moisture and/or Corrosion
A. Turn the keyswitch to OFF.
B. Disconnect the sensor connector.
C. Remove and check for any moisture with all connector components. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Electrical Connectors - Inspect", if necessary.
D. If necessary, repair the connector or replace the connector.
E. Reconnect the connector. Verify that the connection is secure.
F. Turn the keyswitch to ON.
G. Monitor the diagnostic codes on Cat ET. Check for any -13 codes. Wait at least 30 seconds in order for the diagnostic codes to become active.
Sensor Connector
Result: A -13 code is not present.
Return the unit to service
Result: A -13 code is present.
Repair: Replace the sensor. Verify that the problem is resolved.
Result: There are multiple -13 codes present and the codes have a reference sensor.
Repair: Replace the reference sensor. Verify that the problem is resolved.
