When reporting the repair, use "PS40984"as the Part number and "7755" as the Group Number. If administered beforefailure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "T" asthe SIMS Description Code. If administered after failure, use "96" as theWarranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code. The information supplied in this serviceletter may not be valid after the termination date of this program. The engine oil pressure senders installed on certainChallenger tractors may exhibit erratic pressure readings. A new designconsisting of the current sender unit mounted on a bracket attached tothe side of the engine block is now available. Former design senders shippedfrom the factory and current design senders, either shipped from the factoryor field installed under a previous Service Letter (PS40158), should bereplaced with this new design configuration for improved service life.AFFECTED PRODUCT

Locate the existing engine oil pressure senderas. on the left side of the engine. Refer to Illustration 1. Remove thenut and washers retaining the electrical harness ring terminal. Removethe terminal.
Remove the existing oil pressure sender as. fromthe O-Ring to Pipe Adapter at the engine block.
Clean the adapter pipe threads as required.
Apply a pipe thread sealant (such as 5P3413 PipeSealant) to the 8C6865 Pipe Thread/O-Ring Face Seal Connector pipe threadsas directed on the sealant container. Install the Connector in the pipeadapter. Final installation torque is 1.70 +/- 0.25 N m(15.0 +/- 2.2 lb-in).
Attach the 1365473 Bracket As. to the side ofthe engine block at the boss directly below the oil port using the 8T4137Bolt (M10x1.5) and 8T4121 Hard Washer. The L-shaped Bracket As. shouldbe oriented in a vertical position, with the short leg down. Refer to Illustration2.
Apply pipe thread sealant to the pipe threadsof a second 8C6865 Pipe Thread/O-Ring Face Seal Connector. Install theConnector in the upper threads of the pipe coupling welded into the BracketAs. Final installation torque is 1.70 +/- 0.25 N m(15.0 +/- 2.2 lb-in).
Apply pipe thread sealant to the new 1736519 SenderAs. threads. Install the new sender in the lower threads of the pipe couplingwelded into the Bracket As. Final installation torque is 1.70 +/- 0.25N m(15.0 +/- 2.2 lb-in).
Attach the 1365474 Hose As. (with two [2] 4J5477O-Ring Seals) to the previously installed 8C6865 Connectors as shown inIllustration 2.
Reinstall the electrical harness ring terminalremoved in Step 1 using removed components. Note fastener component assemblyorder in Illustration 3.
