Information:

Do not operate or work on this product unless you have read and understood the instruction and warnings in the relevant Operation and Maintenance Manuals and relevant service literature. Failure to follow the instructions or heed the warnings could result in injury or death. Proper care is your responsibility.
The following changes are adaptable to the products within the listed serial numbers, and are effective with all products after the listed serial numbers.Table 1contains the new and former software part numbers for this change.
Table 1
Required Software
New Software Part Number Part Name Former Software Part Number(1)
596-3705 Engine Software 572-0840
538-1204
(1) The former part number listed is for reference only and may differ. The new software is available in the form of a flash file through the Caterpillar® Service Information System (SIS). A newer part number may be available. SIS Web only displays the latest available flash file.De-rate Timer Strategy
The alarms signal a de-rate which occurs if a generator set is operated at above rated load for an extended period. The engine de-rates after 1 hour of operating above 100% generator set rating or 90% engine capability. The total accumulated limit is 1 hour within 12 hours of resetting at 12:00 am or 12:00 pm. The yearly limit of times allowed to operate of rated capacity is 25 hours and resets on January 1.When there are 5 seconds left on the hour counter, the engine Electronic Control Module (ECM) sends the 7426-1 through a Diagnostic Message 1 (DM1) over the J1939 Data Link to the panel. The Marine Engine Control Panel (MECP) panels read this alarm and drive a digital output. The PMS system reads this output and adjusts the load accordingly.Panels that are not Caterpillar made can read the 7426-1 over the J1939 Data Link and communicate this alarm to the load management system to adjust the load.Third-party panels can monitor the following counters:
SPN 7426 starts decrementing from 60 minutes. The de-rate induced by this counter resets at 12:00 am and 12:00 pm.
SPN 7719 starts decrementing from 1,500 minutes. The de-rate induced by this counter will reset on January 1 of the following year. That table below contains the explanation of de-rate time display event codes.
