Information:
Start by:a. open engine enclosure or remove hood1. Move the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Personal injury can result from hot coolant, steam, and alkali. At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure. Steam can cause personal injury. The radiator and all lines to heaters or the engine contain hot coolant or steam. Any contact can cause severe burns.Remove filler cap from the radiator slowly to relieve pressure only when the engine is stopped and radiator cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hands.Do not attempt to tighten hose connections when the coolant is hot, the hose can come off causing burns.Cooling System Conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
2. Drain the radiator. The capacity of the cooling system is 30.0 liters (8 U. S. gallons). Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, Form No. KEBU7506, for the correct procedure.
Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.Make sure all of the attachments have been lowered, oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Identify all hydraulic lines as they are removed for reinstallation purposes. Cap and plug all lines and fittings to prevent any contaminants from entering the system.3. Release the pressure in the hydraulic system by slowly loosening the fill cap located on the top of the hydraulic oil tank.4. Drain the hydraulic oil from the hydraulic oil tank. The capacity of the hydraulic oil tank is 80 liters (21.1 U. S. gallons). Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, Form No. KEBU7506, for the correct procedure. Steps 5 through 11 are for machines equipped with a hood.5. Remove four bolts (1) from each battery cover (2) and remove both covers. 6. Attach Tool (A) to left side panel. Remove four bolts (3) and remove left side panel (4). The weight of the left side panel is 29 kg (64 lb). Note: During installation, shim the left side panel to 5 mm (0.197 inch).7. Repeat Step 6 for the right side panel. 8. Remove six bolts (5) and grill (6) from the machine. 9. Remove two bolts (8) from support assembly (7). 10. Attach a lifting strap to left support (9). Remove three bolts (10) and remove the left support from the machine. The weight of the left support is 25 kg (55 lb).11. Repeat Step 10 for the right support. 12. Disconnect air indicator line (11) from the hydraulic oil tank frame. Remove the two bolts and clamp that fastens the air indicator line to the hydraulic oil tank the top of the hydraulic oil tank frame.13. Loosen the clamp, and remove coolant hose (12) from the top of the hydraulic oil tank frame.14. Remove the two bolts that fasten water separator (13) to the hydraulic oil tank frame. Move the water separator out of the way.15. Remove the bolt and clamp that secure the oil level indicator (140 to the engine. Remove the oil level indicator. 16. Disconnect hoses (15) from the fan motor. Cap and plug hoses immediately. 17. Remove clamp (16) from hoses (15).18. Remove nut (19) that fastens the disconnect switch (14) to the hydraulic oil tank frame. Move the disconnect switch and cables out of the way.19. Loosen clamp (20) and remove bolts (18). Remove fuel assembly (17) from filler hose (21). Cover the opening to the fuel tank. 20. Disconnect hoses (22). Cap and plug immediately. 21. Disconnect electrical connector (24).22. Disconnect hoses (23) and (27). Cap and plug hoses immediately.23. Loosen clamp (25) and remove hose (26) from the hydraulic oil tank. 24. Remove two bolts (28) that hold the battery cable and wires onto the hydraulic frame assembly. 25. Attach lifting straps and a hoist to two braces (29) that support the radiator and the hydraulic oil tank. 26. Remove four bolts (30). Remove the radiator, hydraulic oil cooler and hydraulic oil tank unit from the machine. The weight of the hydraulic oil tank, radiator and hydraulic oil cooler unit is approximately 227 kg (500 lb). For the installation of the radiator, hydraulic oil cooler and hydraulic oil tank, reverse the removal steps. After the radiator, hydraulic oil cooler and hydraulic oil tank have been installed, fill the cooling system with coolant to the correct level. Fill the hydraulic oil system with hydraulic oil to the correct level. Refer to the Operation & Maintenance Manual, Form No. KEBU7506, for the correct procedures.End By:a. close engine enclosure or install hoodDisassemble & Assemble Radiator, Hydraulic Oil Cooler & Hydraulic Oil Tank
