In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS4048" as Part Number and "7755" as Group Number. There have been some earlier Service Letters on this subject. The May 14, 1982 (SLA122), July 16, 1984 (PI7104) and May 10, 1985, (PI7104) are no longer in effect and reference should be made to this Service Letter. Termination Date

Problem
The engine oil cooler on the following products has not provided satisfactory service life. An improved rubber end sheet oil cooler is now used. This uses a stronger adhesive to hold the baffles in place. The improved oil cooler has the same 4W6045 part number, but can be identified by the letter "H" stamped next to the oil cooler part number. An oil cooler with these improvements and a new part number will be available sometime in the future. A new oil pump by-pass valve is also used in production. The new valve is a different design which will prevent pressure pulses. The pressure pulses have been a major contributor to oil cooler failures.
Affected Product
The affected products have been separated into two categories; products which are eligible for the improved oil cooler and products which are eligible for the oil pump improvements. Both categories should be checked for the specific product, because many products are eligible for both improvements. Action Required
If the engine oil cooler has failed, flush the cooling and/or lubrication system as needed. Install the new parts. It is important that the oil pump by-pass valve parts be installed as shown in the illustration. The new valve does not use a guide. (SEE ILLUSTRATION) (SEE ILLUSTRATION)

U.S. and Canadian Dealers Return all 1N3246 Retainers removed from 992C Loaders and 773B Trucks to the Pioneer Park Claims Building to the attention of J. Allen. Handle all other parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling. All Other Dealers Handle all parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.
