Information:
1. Remove the counterweight from the machine. See Remove & Install Counterweight in the Vehicle Systems Disassembly & Assembly module, Form No. SENR4597.2. Close the fuel tank supply valve if so equipped.
At operating temperature, the hydraulic oil tank is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns. Remove the fill plug only when the engine is stopped, and the fill plug is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.
3. Release the pressure from the hydraulic oil tank by slowly loosening the pressure cap located on the side of the hydraulic oil tank.4. Remove the cover from under the hydraulic oil tank to gain access to the drain plug; then drain the hydraulic oil tank. The capacity of the hydraulic oil tank is 105 liters (27.7 U.S. gal).
At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure. Steam can cause personal injury. Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped and the fill plug is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Remove the fill cap slowly to relieve pressure. Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.
5. Release the pressure in the cooling system. Drain the coolant from the radiator. The capacity of the cooling system is 14.6 liters (3.9 U.S. gal). 6. Loosen clamps (1), and remove pipes (2) and hoses (3). 7. Loosen two clamps (4), and remove upper radiator hose (5). 8. Remove bolts (6) that hold the upper fan guard. Remove upper fan guard (7). 9. Remove bolts (9) that hold the lower fan guard. Remove lower fan guard (8). 10. Loosen clamp (10), and disconnect lower radiator hose (11) at the radiator. 11. Disconnect heater hoses (12) and (13) at the base of the water temperature regulator housing. 12. Disconnect fuel lines (14) and (15) at the fuel system. Put plugs in the lines to keep dirt and debris out of the fuel system. 13. Remove two bolts (16) to disconnect linkage (17) from the fuel system. Remove cotter pin (18) to disconnect linkage (19) from the fuel system. 14. Put identification marks on the three wires connected to the starter solenoid. Disconnect three wires (20) from the solenoid. 15. Disconnect ground wire (21) from the left rear engine mounting bracket 16. Remove two bolts (23) and mounting bracket (22) from the cylinder block.17. Disconnect potentiometer connector (24). 18. Disconnect glow plug wiring harness (25) at the engine. 19. Remove cover (26) and three covers (27) at the rear of the engine. Remove the support braces for the covers. 20. Put identification marks on the seven hoses and pipes (28) that are connected to the main hydraulic pump. Disconnect hoses and pipes (28) from the main hydraulic pump. Put plugs in the lines to keep dirt and debris out of the hydraulic system. 21. Put identification marks on the wires of wiring harness (30). Disconnect the wiring harness at the engine. Remove the wiring harness from two clips (29). 22. Disconnect wire (31) at the main water inlet. 23. Remove the wiring harness from clip (32). Put identification marks on four wires (33) as to their location on the alternator. Disconnect the wires from the alternator. 24. Remove clips (36) and (34) that hold the wiring harness to the cylinder block of the engine.25. Put identification marks on two wires (35) for assembly purposes. Disconnect the two wires from the sensor located on the engine directly below the alternator. 26. Remove clip (38) that holds the fuel lines to the left front engine mounting bracket.27. Remove cover (37) from above the left front engine mounting bracket. 28. Disconnect oil return pipe (39) from the hydraulic oil tank. Move the pipe away from the area above the hydraulic oil tank.
Do not damage the radiator core, fan shroud or fan assembly during removal of the engine. The engine must be held level during removal to prevent possible interference between components.
29. Fasten tool (A) and a hoist to the engine as shown. Remove four engine mounting bolts (41), washers and nuts that hold the engine to the frame. Remove engine and main hydraulic pump (40) as a unit. The weight of the unit is 567 kg (1250 lb).
The front and rear upper and lower rubber engine mounts have different part numbers. The rubber mounts must not be mixed. After removal of the engine and main hydraulic pump, put identification marks on the rubber mounts as to their location.
30. Remove upper rubber mounts (42) and lower rubber mounts (43) from the front and rear engine mounting brackets. The lower rubber mounts may fall out during engine removal and remain on the frame of the machine.31. Put identification marks on the upper and lower rubber mounts as to their location on the front and rear engine mounting brackets. The following steps are for the installation of the engine and main hydraulic pump.
Visually check the condition of upper rubber mounts (42) and lower rubber mounts (43). If the rubber mounts are damaged or appear to be worn or compressed, use new parts for replacement. To ensure correct engine operation, be sure the rubber mounts are installed in their original locations in the front and rear engine mounting brackets.
Do not damage the radiator core, fan shroud or fan assembly during installation of the engine. The engine must be held level during installation to prevent possible damage to components.
32. Fasten tool (A) and a hoist to the engine. Install upper rubber mounts (42) and lower rubber mounts (43) in their original locations in the front and rear engine mounting brackets. Lower the engine into position on the frame of the machine.Install four mounting bolts (41),
