Install the fuel injector and the control linkage. Adjust the rod assembly (1) to 500.00 0.25 mm (19.685 0.0010 inch).
Adjust the LEFT fuel control rod (4) to 700 mm (27.6 inch). Do not lock the jam nuts.
Adjust the RIGHT fuel control rod (3) to 705 mm (27.8 inch). Do not lock the jam nuts.
Install both of the fuel control rods. Refer to Illustration 1.Note: For earlier 3618 Engines (2MW1-47), proceed to Step 6. A special pin is supplied with these earlier engines. For later 3618 Engines (2MW48-UP), proceed to Step 7.
Line up the lever (5) with the plate (7). The hole in the bottom of the lever and the hole in the plate must line up. Install the special pin through the hole in the lever (5) into hole (6). Hole (6) is located in the plate (7). Proceed to Step 8.

Thread the synchronization pin through the hole in the lever (5) into hole (6). Hole (6) is located in the plate (7). The tip of the synchronization pin (2) must pass into the hole (6) .

Position of Gauge On Fuel Injector Rack (8) 6V-9057 Rack Synchronizing Gauge
Place the 6V-9057 Rack Synchronizing Gauge in position on the No. 17 fuel injector. Put the 6V-9057 Rack Synchronizing Gauge (6) on the round part of the fuel injector rack. The 6V-9057 Rack Synchronizing Gauge should be placed between the trim screw of the fuel injector and the end of the rack.
The engine may overspeed due to incorrect assembly or adjustment.Engine overspeed could result in personal injury, loss of life and/or property damage.Be prepared to stop the engine by activating the engine shutdown system or closing the air inlet lines.
Adjust the right fuel control rod (3) until the 6V-9057 Rack Synchronizing Gauge (8) contacts the trim screw of the fuel injector and the end of the rack. The 6V-9057 Rack Synchronizing Gauge (8) should be making contact with the fuel injector rack. However, the gauge should not be forcing the fuel injector rack open.
Lock the jam nuts on the right fuel control rod (3). Recheck to ensure that the 6V-9057 Rack Synchronizing Gauge (8) contacts the trim screw of the fuel injector and the end of the rack. The 6V-9057 Rack Synchronizing Gauge (8) should be making contact with the fuel injector rack. However, the gauge should not be forcing the fuel injector rack open.
Repeat Steps 8 through 10 for the left fuel control rod (4) .Note: For earlier 3618 Engines (2MW1-47), proceed to Step 12. For later 3618 Engines (2MW48-UP), proceed to Step 13.
Remove the special pin.
Remove the synchronization pin (2) .Note: After assembly, the fuel control shaft must rotate freely. The fuel control shaft must allow the fuel injector racks to make contact with the trim screws of the fuel injectors. This condition must exist when the fuel control shaft is manually rotated and released to any position.
