Information:

The Engine has Stopped
Follow the steps in order to restart the engine. The steps should eliminate the possible causes.
The fuel supply valve should be open.
Check the primary fuel filter (if equipped) and the fuel filters for restriction and for water. The vessel may be equipped with a water in fuel warning lamp. If the water in fuel warning lamp is illuminated, then there is water in the fuel system. The water must be removed before the engine is operated. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel System Secondary Filter - Replace" and the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel Tank Water and Sediment - Drain".
Check the amount of fuel in the fuel tank. There may be dirt or air in the fuel lines if the fuel level is extremely low or if the fuel level is empty. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel System - Prime".
If the engine will not start, disconnect the fuel shutoff solenoid on the fuel injection pump. Start the engine. The manual stop lever on the fuel injection pump must now be used to stop the engine. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Manual Stop Procedure".There is a Reduction in Engine Power and Engine Speed
Follow the steps in order to determine the reason that the engine has lost power and speed.
Ensure that the propeller is free of debris.
Ensure that the air cleaner is not restricted. Ensure that the engine compartment has a good supply of air.
Check the primary fuel filter (if equipped) and the fuel filters for restriction and for water. The vessel may be equipped with a water in fuel warning lamp. If the lamp is illuminated, then there is water in the fuel system. The water must be removed before the engine is operated. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel System Secondary Filter - Replace" and Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel Tank Water and Sediment - Drain".The Engine is Overheating
Follow the steps in order to correct the overheated engine.
Reduce the engine speed to low idle. Stop the engine. Check for leaks and for steam. Allow the engine to cool.
Pressurized System: Hot coolant can cause serious burns. To open the cooling system filler cap, stop the engine and wait until the cooling system components are cool. Loosen the cooling system pressure cap slowly in order to relieve the pressure.
Check the coolant level. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant Level - Check".
Check the valve for the sea water. Ensure that the valve for the sea water is open. Check the sea water strainer for debris. Ensure that the valve for the sea water is not restricted. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Sea Water Strainer - Clean/Inspect".
Check the strainer at the outlet of the sea water pump. Ensure that the impeller of the sea water pump has not failed. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Auxiliary Water Pump (Rubber Impeller) - Inspect".The Engine has a Fuel Leak
A fuel leak can be high pressure or low pressure. Follow the correct procedure.High Pressure Fuel Line
Personal injury or death can result from improperly checking for a leak.Always use a board or cardboard when checking for a leak. Escaping fluid under pressure, even a pinhole size leak, can penetrate body tissue, causing serious injury and possible death. If fluid is injected into your skin, it must be treated immediately by a doctor familiar with this type of injury.
Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire.
Do not allow dirt to enter the fuel system. Thoroughly clean the area around a fuel system component that will be disconnected. Fit a suitable cover over disconnected fuel system component.
Stop the engine.
Remove the broken fuel line from the engine.
Connect the good end of the fuel line to the fuel injection pump. Place the broken end of the fuel line into a suitable container.
Operate the engine at a reduced load and reduced speed.Low Pressure Fuel Line
If there is a leak in a low pressure fuel line, then temporarily stop the leak with a hose and a hose clamp. Repair the fuel line once the vessel has returned to the harbor. The Engine has an Oil Leak
Follow the steps in order to correct the oil leak.
Hot oil and hot components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or hot components to contact the skin.
Stop the engine immediately. Determine the cause of the oil leak.
If the leak can not be temporarily reduced or stopped, place a suitable container under the leak.
Start the engine. Fill the engine with engine oil at the same rate as the leak. Ensure that the engine oil pressure is in the acceptable range during the return to the harbor. Repair the leak once the vessel is docked.
