Tighten the nut to a torque of 70 N m (50 lb.ft.), and bend the tab of the lock in the nut.12. Put clean water on seal (15). Install the seal on the pump shaft with the large sealing surface against the ceramic ring. Use hand pressure only to install seal (15). If seal (15) or ceramic ring (10) have damage or wear, use new parts for replacement.13. Install washer (13) and the original shims (14) if available or shims of a thickness of 0.51 mm (.020 in.) as a place to start. 14. Install plate (16) in body (12) with the tabs of plate (16) in alignment with the notches in body (12).15. Use a micrometer, and measure the thickness of impeller (18) and the width of ring (19) to find the difference in dimensions. This difference is used to find the shims needed to get an equal amount of clearance on each side of the impeller when it is installed in the pump. Install the impeller with the threaded puller holes toward the outside.16. Install key (17) and impeller (18) on the pump shaft. 17. Install the washer and nut (21).
