1. Close fuel shut-off valve that is located below the primary fuel filter. 2. Loosen nut assembly (2) in order to remove case assembly (5) and the filter element from the primary fuel filter base.3. Disconnect the fittings on hose assemblies (3) and (4). Plug the fittings to prevent the loss of fuel, and to keep dirt out of the fuel system. 4. Remove filter element (6) from case assembly (5). 5. Remove bolts (7) and washers that hold primary fuel filter base (8) to the side of the fuel tank. Remove the primary fuel filter base from the fuel tank. 6. Use Tool (B) in order to remove ring (11) that holds nut (9) and washer (10) to primary fuel filter base (8).7. Remove gasket (12) from primary fuel filter base (8). 8. Remove O-ring seal (13) from primary fuel filter base (8). O-ring seal (13) is under nut (9) and washer (10). 9. Remove fuel priming pump (15) and gasket (14) from fuel filter base (8). 10. Remove fitting (18), O-ring seal (17) and valve assembly (16) from primary fuel filter base (8). 11. Use Tool (A) in order to remove secondary fuel filter (23) from the secondary fuel filter base.12. Disconnect tube assembly (19) and the O-ring seal from secondary fuel filter base (21). Plug the tube assembly in order to prevent the loss of fuel, and to keep dirt out of the fuel system.13. Disconnect wire assembly (20) from secondary fuel filter base (21).14. Remove bolts (22) and washers from secondary fuel filter base (21). Remove secondary fuel filter base (21) and the gasket from the engine.Install Fuel Filters & Fuel Filter Bases
1. Clean all components of the fuel filter bases before you install them to the engine. Check the condition of all gaskets used in the fuel filter bases. If the gaskets are damaged, use new parts for replacement. Check the condition of the O-ring seals used in the fuel filter base and the tube assemblies that were disconnected. If any of the seals are damaged, use new parts for replacement. 2. Position secondary fuel filter base (21) and the gasket to the engine. Install bolts (22) and washers in order to secure the secondary fuel filter base to the engine.3. Lightly lubricate the O-ring seal used in tube assembly (19) with clean fuel. Connect the tube assembly and the O-ring seal to secondary fuel filter base (21).4. Connect wire assembly (20) to secondary fuel filter base (21). Install a new filter (23) to secondary fuel filter base (22). 5. Install O-ring seal (17) on fitting (18).6. Install valve assembly (16) in fuel filter base (8).7. Install fitting (18) in fuel filter base (8). 8. Install gasket (14) and fuel priming pump (15) on fuel filter base (8). 9. Install O-ring seal (13) on nut (9). 10. Install hard washer (10) and nut (9) in the top of the fuel filter base. 11. Use Tool (B) in order to install ring (11) that holds nut (9) and washer (10) to primary filter base (8).12. Install gasket (12) in primary fuel filter base (8). 13. Position the primary fuel filter base to the fuel tank.14. Install bolts (7) and washers that hold primary fuel filter base (8) to the side of the fuel tank. 15. Install a new filter element (6) in case assembly (5). 16. Install hose assemblies (3) and (4) to their original locations.17. Install case assembly (5) and the filter element to the primary filter base.18. Tighten nut assembly (2) to a torque of 24 4 N m (18 3 lb ft). 19. Open shut off valve (1) that is located below the primary fuel filter.
