Description     Conditions which Generate this Code     System Response    
41-3 8 Volt DC Supply : Voltage Above Normal     The 8 volt supply is more than 8.8 VDC for more than one second.     The code is logged.
If equipped, the warning light will come on.    
41-4 8 Volt DC Supply : Voltage Below Normal     The 8 volt supply is less than 7.2 VDC for more than one second.     The code is logged.
If equipped, the warning light will come on.    
262-3 5 Volt Sensor DC Power Supply : Voltage Above Normal     The 5 volt supply is greater than 5.16 VDC for more than one second.     The code is logged. The check engine lamp will illuminate. All of the pressure sensors are set to the default value. The engine will be derated.    
262-4 5 Volt Sensor DC Power Supply : Voltage Below Normal     The 5 volt supply is less than 4.84 VDC for more than one second.     The code is logged. The check engine lamp will illuminate. All of the pressure sensors are set to the default value. The engine will be derated.    
100-10 Engine Oil Pressure Sensor : Abnormal Rate of Change     The engine speed is greater than 600 rpm.
The engine oil pressure signal is within the limits of
410 kPa (59 psi) to
520 kPa (75 psi) with a pressure variation of less than
1.68 kPa (0.25 psi)for more than 30 seconds.
The engine oil pressure signal remains constant for 30 seconds.     If equipped, the warning lamp will illuminate. The code is logged. The engine oil pressure is set to a default value of
500 kPa (72 psi).    
460-10 Fuel Pressure Sensor - After Fuel Filter : Abnormal Rate of Change     The sensor for the fuel filter is experiencing an abnormal rate of change.     If equipped, the warning lamp will illuminate. The code is logged.    
1785-10 Intake Manifold Pressure Sensor : Abnormal Rate of Change     The intake manifold pressure sensor is experiencing an abnormal rate of change.     If equipped, the warning lamp will illuminate. The code is logged.    The Engine Control Module (ECM) supplies 5.0 0.2 VDC to the following sensors:
Fuel rail pressure sensor
Intake manifold pressure sensor
Engine oil pressure sensor
Fuel filter differential pressure sensor
Fuel pressure sensor The ECM supplies a regulated voltage of 8.0 0.4 VDC to the speed/timing sensors.The ECM provides short circuit protection for the internal power supply. A short circuit to the battery will not damage the internal power supply.Note: The sensors are not protected from overvoltage. A short from the supply line to the +Battery may damage the sensors. If any of the diagnostic codes are active, it is possible that a sensor has been damaged. Repair the sensor supply and check for any active sensor diagnostic codes in order to determine if a sensor has failed.

Turn the keyswitch to the OFF position.

Thoroughly inspect the terminal connections on the P2/J2 ECM connectors. Thoroughly inspect the connectors for each engine sensor.
Refer to service Troubleshooting, "Electrical Connectors - Inspect".
Perform a 45 N (10 lb) pull test on each of the wires that are associated with the engine sensors.
Check the torque of the allen head screws for the ECM connectors. Refer to service Troubleshooting, "Electrical Connectors - Inspect".
Check the harness for abrasions and for pinch points from the sensors back to the ECM.Expected Result:All connectors, pins, and sockets are completely coupled and/or inserted. The harness and wiring are free of corrosion, of abrasion, and of pinch points.Results:
OK - The harness and wiring are OK. Proceed to Test Step 2.
Not OK - There is a problem in the wiring and/or the connectors.Repair: Repair the connectors or the harness and/or replace the connectors or the harness. Ensure that all of the seals are correctly in place and ensure that the connectors are completely coupled.If applicable, use Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) to perform a wiggle test.Use Cat ET in order to clear all logged diagnostic codes and then verify that the repair eliminates the fault.STOPTest Step 2. Check for Active Diagnostic Codes
Connect Cat ET to the service tool connector.
Turn the keyswitch to the ON position.Note: Wait at least 30 seconds in order for the diagnostic codes to become active.
Monitor the active diagnostic
