Table 1
Diagnostic Trouble Codes That Cause the ARD to Be Disabled
CDL Code    Code Description    Comments
E993-2     DPF Active Regeneration Inhibited Due to Inhibit Switch     The regeneration system is disabled by the "ARD Disable" switch.
E1301-1     Aftertreatment Regeneration Cannot Start Due to System Fault     The diesel particulate filter is not able to perform an active regeneration due to an active fault in the system.
E1300-1     Aftertreatment Regeneration Cannot Start Due to Low Engine Temperature     The diesel particulate filter is not able to perform an active regeneration because the exhaust gas temperature is too low.
E1302-1     Aftertreatment Regeneration Cannot Start Due to Conditions Not Met     The diesel particulate filter is not able to perform an active regeneration as one of the current engine pressures or temperatures is too high.
E1239-1     DPF #1 Conditions Not Met for Active Regeneration - Level 2     The diesel particulate filter is not able to perform an active regeneration at the current engine operating conditions.
Check for Diagnostic Codes that are Active
Connect the electronic service tool to the diagnostic connector.
Turn the keyswitch to the On position.
Monitor the active diagnostic code screen on the electronic service tool. Check and record any diagnostic codes that are active or logged. Look for the following diagnostic codes:
E993-2
E1301-1
E1300-1
E1302-1
E1239-1Note: Wait at least 30 seconds in order for the diagnostic codes to become active.
Remove the electrical power from the Electronic Control Module (ECM).
If an E993-2 diagnostic code is present, proceed to Step 2.
If an E1301-1 diagnostic code is present, proceed to Step 3.
If an E1300-1 diagnostic code is present, proceed to Step 4.
If an E1302-1 or E1239-1 diagnostic code is present, proceed to Step 5.
An E993-2 Diagnostic Code is Present
The operator has disabled the regeneration system by moving the "ARD Disable" switch to the Stop position. Move the "ARD Disable" switch to the Start position in order to perform a regeneration.
Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Monitoring System (Aftertreatment Regeneration Device)" for the correct operation of the regeneration system.
Return the unit to service.
An E1301-1 Diagnostic Code is Present
Establish communication between the electronic service tool and the engine ECM.
Check for active faults related to the ARD combustion air system, ARD fuel system, or ARD ignition system.
Troubleshoot all active faults related to the ARD combustion air system, ARD fuel system, or ARD ignition system.
Clear any logged codes after correcting the faults.
Perform a DPF regeneration.
An E1300-1 Diagnostic Code is Present
Raise the coolant temperature above 40° C (104° F ) and the Diesel Particulate Filter inlet temperature above 50° C (122° F). If the ambient temperature is −15° C (5° F) or below, the coolant temperature must be above 60° C (140° F) for an active regeneration to begin.
An E1302-1 or E1239-1 Diagnostic Code is Present
The operator did not allow enough time at a suitable engine speed and load for regeneration to occur. The operator must respond when the DPF lamp is illuminated. Once the DPF lamp illuminates and a warning is displayed, the engine load must be reduced until the soot load is reduced to 50 percent.
Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Monitoring System (Aftertreatment Regeneration Device)" for the correct operation of the regeneration system.
Return the unit to service.
