Start By:a. remove radiator group (folded core)
If the front of the engine is to be raised more than 6 mm (.25 in), several items must be disconnected or removed to prevent damage to the components of the machine. They are as follows:
a. disconnect the drive shaft for the pump drive. *b. remove the front guard for the main drive shaft. **c. loosen the hose clamps on the hose that connects the torque converter pump suction tube to the hydraulic tank. **d. loosen the hose clamps on the rubber elbow that connects the air inlet tubes to the air cleaners.e. loosen the hose clamps on the hoses that connect the engine water pump and the auxiliary water pump to the radiator.f. remove front and rear hoodg. loosen the caps on the rear engine mounts.h. remove the exhaust piping that connects the turbochargers to the rear main frame.*See Machine Systems Disassembly & Assembly**See Power Train Disassembly & Assembly The trunnion does not have to be removed in order to remove the engine front support, but it will be necessary to raise the front of the engine approximately 51 mm (2.0 in) if the trunnion is not removed. See the notice at the beginning of this procedure. 1. Remove four bolts (1), the nuts and the washers that fasten trunnion (2) to engine front support (3).2. Attach a suitable lifting device to the lifting eye assembly on the front of the engine. Raise the front of the engine approximately 51 mm (2.0 in). The weight on the front of the enfine is 3860 kg (8500 lb). Put Tooling (A) in position under the front drive housing as shown. Lower the engine on Tooling (A).3. Remove hose assemblies (7), (8) and (9).4. Remove primary fuel filter bracket (4) from the engine front support.5. Remove two bolts (5), the nuts and the washers. Put lifting slings in position around the engine front support. Attach the lifting slings to a suitable lifting device. Remove the engine front support from the machine. The weight of the engine front support is 93 kg (205 lb). 6. Remove two mount assemblies (11) and two sleeves (10) from the engine front support. The following steps are for the installation of the engine front support. 7. Install two sleeves (10) and two mount assemblies (11) in the engine front support. 8. Put lifting slings in position around the engine front support. Attach the lifting slings to a suitable lifting device. Put the engine front support in position on the frame assembly.9. Install two bolts (5), the nuts and the washers. Tighten bolts (5) that fasten the engine front support to the frame to a torque of 1125 100 N m (835 75 lb ft).10. The mating surfaces of the trunnion and the engine front support must be free of dirt or paint. Attach a suitable lifting device to the lifting eye assembly on the front of the engine. Raise the engine off Tooling (A), and remove Tooling (A). Lower engine on the engine front support.11. Install four bolts (1), the nuts and the washers. Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 475 50 N m (350 35 lb ft).12. Install primary fuel filter base (4) on the engine front support.13. Install three hose assemblies (7), (8) and (9).14. Tighten the bolts that fasten the caps on the rear engine mount to a torque of 270 25 N m (200 18 lb ft)End By:a. install radiator
