Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire. To help prevent possible injury, turn the start switch off when changing fuel filters or water separator elements. Clean up fuel spills immediately.
Note: Refer to Testing and Adjusting Manual , "Cleanliness of Fuel System Components" for detailed information on the standards of cleanliness that must be observed during ALL work on the fuel system.
Ensure that the engine is stopped before any servicing or repair is performed.
This fuel filter can be identified by the six drain holes in the filter. Refer to illustration 1.

After the engine has stopped, you must wait for 60 seconds in order to allow the fuel pressure to be purged from the high pressure fuel lines before any service or repair is performed on the engine fuel lines. If necessary, perform minor adjustments. Repair any leaks from the low pressure fuel system and from the cooling, lubrication or air systems. Replace any high pressure fuel line that has leaked. Refer to Disassembly and assembly Manual, "Fuel Injection Lines - Install".
Do not allow dirt to enter the fuel system. Thoroughly clean the area around a fuel system component that will be disconnected. Fit a suitable cover over disconnected fuel system component.
Ensure that the fuel supply valve (if equipped) is in the OFF position. Place a suitable container under the fuel filter in order to catch any fuel that might spill. Clean up any spilled fuel.

Clean the outside of the fuel filter. Use 1U-8760 Chain Wrench in order to remove canister (2) from the engine and dispose of the canister in a safe place.
Lubricate O ring seal (1) with clean engine oil. Do not fill the new canister with fuel before the canister is installed.
Do not use a tool in order to install the canister. Tighten the canister by hand.
Install the new canister. Spin on the canister until the O ring seal contacts the filter base. The canister will require ¾ of a full turn or one full turn in order to tighten the canister correctly. Refer to information on the canister.
Remove the container and dispose of the fluid in a safe place. If equipped, open the fuel supply valve.
Prime the fuel system. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel System - Prime" for more information. Type Two Filter
