Problem
Operation on steep slopes and/or at high travel speed may lead to engine overspeed under certain conditions. Due to the sound proofing of the cabs, and the low level of track noise at high travel speeds, the operator is generally not aware that the engine is in an overspeed condition. Engine damage due to overspeed is cumulative in nature. Repeated incidents of moderate overspeed may ultimately be as damaging as a single case of severe overspeed.
