Troubleshooting Test Steps Values Results
1. Check the Fuel Level
A. Remove the fuel tank cap from the fuel tank.
B. Check the vent port that is in the cap for debris. Remove any debris with compressed air.
C. Visually inspect the fuel level in the tank. Ensure that the fuel tank has enough fuel to operate the engine.
D. Check the position of the fuel supply valve (if equipped). The valve must be in the full OPEN position.
Fuel Level
Result: The fuel level is OK.
Proceed to Test Step 2.
Result: The fuel level is low.
Repair: Fill the tank with fuel. Proceed to Test Step 5.

2. Check the Fuel Pressure at the ARD Fuel Supply
A. Disconnect the ARD fuel line from the pump.
B. Install the FT-3155 Gauge Kit at the pump outlet port.
C. Turn the keyswitch to the ON position. Start the engine.
D. Establish communication between Cat ET and the "Engine #1 Aftertreatment Controller".
E. Select the "Aftertreatment Fuel Pump Relay Override" to activate the pump.
F. Override the pump and record the pressure from the pressure gauge.
G. Deactivate the override.
H. Turn the keyswitch to the OFF position.
I. The pressure must be within specifications. The pump pressure must be 1900 120 kPa (276 17 psi).
1900 120 kPa (276 17 psi)
Result:The pressure measured 1900 120 kPa (276 17 psi).
Proceed to Test Step 5.
Result:The pressure is less than 1900 120 kPa (276 17 psi).
Repair: Replace the primary fuel filter. Proceed to Test Step 3.
Result:The pressure measured 0 kPa (0 psi).
Inspect the wiring at the pump. If the wiring is OK and the pump does not activate, replace the Fuel Priming Pump group assembly.
Proceed to Test Step 5.

3. Check the Pressure Regulator
A. Turn the keyswitch to the ON position. Start the engine.
B. Establish communication between Cat ET and the ECM.
C. Select the"Aftertreatment Fuel Pump Relay Override" in order to activate the pump.
D. Record the pressure on the pressure gauge.
E. Refer to ARD Fuel Pump (Current) - Test and record current for the ARD Fuel Pump.
F. Turn the keyswitch to the OFF position.
1900 120 kPa (276 17 psi)
7.5 1.5 Amps on 24 Volt System
19.5 2.5 Amps on 12 Volt System
Result: The pressure measured 1900 120 kPa (276 17 psi) and current measured 7.5 1.5 Amps (24 V) 19.5 2.5 Amps on (12 V).
Proceed to Test Step 5.
Result: The pressure did not measure 1900 120 kPa (276 17 psi) and current measured 7.5 1.5 Amps (24 V) 19.5 2.5 Amps on (12 V).
Repair: Replace the fuel pressure regulator located in the pump base. Refer to Specifications in SIS for correct installation torque 28 3 N m (248 27 lb in).
Proceed to Test Step 4.
Result: The Pressure did not measure 1900 120 kPa (276 17 psi) and current did not measure 7.5 1.5 Amps (24 V) 19.5 2.5 Amps on (12 V).
Repair: Replace the Fuel Priming Pump Group Assembly.
Proceed to Test Step 5.
4. Check the Fuel Diverter Valve
A. Disconnect the pilot and main fuel lines from the ARD head and place them into a bucket.
B. Turn the keyswitch to the ON position. Establish communication between Cat ET and the ECM. Disable ARD Regens.
C. Start the engine.
D. Select the"Aftertreatment Fuel Pump Relay Override" to activate the pump.
E. Record the pressure from the pressure gauge.
F. Refer to ARD Fuel Pump (Current) - Test and record current for the ARD Fuel Pump.
G. Turn the keyswitch to the OFF position.
1900 120 kPa (276 17 psi)
7.5 1.5 Amps on 24 Volt System
19.5 2.5 Amps on 12 Volt System
Result:The pressure measured 1900 120 kPa (276 17 psi) and current measured 7.5 1.5 Amps (24 V) 19.5 2.5 Amps on (12 V).
Reconnect the ARD fuel lines to the ARD head. Proceed to Test Step 5.
Result:The pressure did not measure 1900 120 kPa (276 17 psi), the current measured 7.5 1.5 Amps (24 V) 19.5 2.5 Amps on (12 V) and no fuel flow from the ARD head fuel lines.
Repair: Replace the fuel diverter valve.
Reconnect the ARD fuel lines to the ARD head. Proceed to Test Step 5.
Result:The pressure did not measure 1900 120 kPa (276 17 psi), the current measured 7.5 1.5 Amps (24 V) 19.5 2.5 Amps on (12 V) and there was fuel flow from the ARD head fuel lines.
Replace the ARD fuel valve that matches the fuel lines with leaking fuel.
Reconnect the ARD fuel lines to the ARD head. Proceed to Test Step 5.
5. Perform a Manual DPF Regeneration
This test must be performed through Cat ET. The Cat ET service tool enhances the diagnostics during the service test.
A. Turn the keyswitch to the ON position. Start the engine.
B. Establish communication between Cat ET and the "Engine #1 Aftertreatment Controller".
C. Start a Manual DPF regeneration using Cat ET.
Successful Regeneration
Result:The manual DPF regeneration completed successfully.
Return to service.
Result:The manual DPF regeneration did not complete
