Aftertreatment #1 Intake NOx : Erratic, Intermittent, or Incorrect 3655-2
Aftertreatment #1 Intake NOx Level Sensor : Erratic, Intermittent, or Incorrect The Electronic Control Module (ECM) detects that the NOx concentration level is not consistent between both the inlet NOx sensors.
3217-15
Aftertreatment #1 Intake O2 : High - moderate severity (2) E1407 (1)
High Aftertreatment #1 Intake O2 Concentration #1 The inlet NOx Sensor #1 is reading a higher than expected level of Oxygen (O2).
3226-2
Aftertreatment #1 Outlet NOx : Erratic, Intermittent, or Incorrect 3609-2
Aftertreatment #1 Outlet #1 NOx Level Sensor : Erratic, Intermittent, or Incorrect The ECM detects that the NOx concentration level is not consistent between both the inlet NOx sensors.
3227-15
Aftertreatment #1 Outlet O2 : High - moderate severity (2) E1408 (1)
High Aftertreatment #1 Outlet O2 Concentration #1 The outlet NOx Sensor #1 is reading a higher than expected level of Oxygen (O2).

Aftertreatment #1 SCR Intake NOx #2 : Erratic, Intermittent, or Incorrect 3967-2
Aftertreatment #1 Intake #2 NOx Level Sensor : Erratic, Intermittent, or Incorrect The ECM detects that the NOx concentration level is not consistent between both the outlet NOx sensors.
7650–15
Aftertreatment #1 Intake Percent Oxygen #2 : High - least severe (1) E2256 (1)
High Aftertreatment #1 Intake O2 Concentration #2 The ECM detects that the NOx concentration level is not consistent between both the outlet NOx sensors.

Troubleshooting Test Steps Values Results
1. Verify that the NOx Sensors are Installed
A. Locate the appropriate NOx Sensor.
B. Check if the sensor is installed properly.
Sensor
Result: The sensor is not installed properly.
Repair: Install the sensor properly. Refer to Special Instruction, REHS8151 for additional information.
Proceed to Test Step 4.
Result: The sensor is installed properly.
Proceed to Test Step 2.
2. Inspect the Exhaust System
A. Start the engine.
B. Check the exhaust system for proper installation.
C. Check for loose or broken exhaust joints.
D. Inspect the exhaust system between the turbocharger outlet and the tailpipe outlet for signs of an exhaust leak.
Exhaust System
Result: The exhaust system is OK.
Proceed to Test Step 3.
Result: The exhaust system is NOT OK.
Repair: Repair or replace the damaged exhaust component.
3. Replace the Failed NOx Sensor
A. Turn the keyswitch to the OFF position.
B. Replace the NOx sensor that is logging the fault code.
Sensor
Result: The NOx sensor was replaced.
Proceed to Test Step 4.
4. Perform an Aftertreatment System Functional Test
A. Start the engine.
B. Run the engine until normal operating temperature is reached.
C. Connect Cat® Electronic Technician (ET) to the service tool connector.
D. Select the "Selective Catalyst Reduction System".
E. Use Cat ET to perform the following diagnostic test:
- "Aftertreatment System Functional Test"
Test
Result: The test was successful.
Return to service.
If the procedure did not correct the issue, contact your Cat dealer Technical Communicator (TC). For further assistance, your TC can confer with the Dealer Solutions Network (DSN).
