Some of the battery compartment components have been removed for better photo illustration.1. Use Tool (A) in order to remove oil filter (1) from the filter base. The battery and the sides of the battery box have been removed for better photo illustration.2. Remove plug (4) from tube assembly (3) in order to drain the oil from tube assembly (3) and the oil filter base. Drain the oil into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Install plug (4) in tube assembly (3).3. Remove two bolts (2) from tube assembly (3). 4. Remove bolt (10) and washer and bolt (11) that hold tube assembly (9) to the side of the engine. When bolt (11) is removed the clip holding tube assembly (3) will be loose.5. Remove tube assembly (9), the clip and tube assembly (3) from oil filter base (7). Remove the O-ring seal from the top of each tube. Remove the gasket from the base of each tube.6. Remove four bolts (6) and washers, two covers (5), the two gaskets, the two plungers, and the two springs from oil filter base (7).7. Remove four bolts (8) and washers that hold oil filter base (7) to the engine. Remove the oil filter base from the engine. Remove the two O-ring seals from the top of the oil filter base.Install Engine Oil Filter & Oil Filter Base
1. Clean all components of the oil filter base and mating components before installation. Check the condition of all O-ring seals and gaskets used in the components of the oil filter base. If any of the O-ring seals or gaskets are worn, use new parts for replacement. 2. Install the O-ring seals in the top of filter base (7). Position oil filter base (7) to the engine. Install four bolts (8) and washers that hold oil filter base (7) to the engine.3. Install the O-ring seals to tube assemblies (3) and (9). Install the top of the tubes into the filter base, and position the tube assemblies to the engine. Install the gaskets under the tube bases.4. Install the clip and bolt (11) and bolt (10) and washer that hold tubes assemblies (9) and (3) to the side of the engine. 5. Install two bolts (2) in order to secure tube assembly (3) to the side of the engine. 6. Put a thin film of clean engine oil on the seal of a new oil filter. Install oil filter (1) to oil filter base (7) by hand, until it makes contact with the filter base. Tighten oil filter (1) an 3/4 additional of a turn.7. Check the engine oil for the proper level. Refer to the "Operation & Maintenance Manual" for details regarding service intervals.Disassemble & Assemble Oil Filter Base
Start By:a. remove engine oil filter & oil filter base 1. Remove bolts (1). Remove cover (2) and gasket (3) from the base assembly.2. Remove spring (4) and plunger (5) from the base assembly.3. Remove plug (6) from adapter (7).4. Remove bolts (9). Remove adapter (7) and gasket (10) from base assembly (8).5. Remove bolts (11). Remove cover (12) and gasket (13) from the base assembly.6. To assemble the oil filter base, install gasket (13), cover (12), and bolts (11) to the base assembly.7. Install adapter (7) and gasket (10) to base assembly (8) with bolts (9).8.
