Problem
A casting change was made to the 8N2501 (Rear) Governor Housing used on the above products. This change eliminated a needed boss in the housing. Without the boss, it is possible for the shutoff lever (2W5373) to swing back into the governor housing causing the front of the lever to miss the end of the servo shaft. When the lever misses the end of the servo shaft, the rack normally will be held in a near shutoff position. It is also possible, but unlikely, for the rack to be held in the full open position. The misengagement of the shutoff lever and the servo shaft can only occur when the rear governor housing is being installed after a repair.

Action Required
Check to see if the product needs to be reworked. The 8N2501 Governor Housings, which is unacceptable, can be identified by internal differences in the casting. See Illustration 1. Also check to see if the housing has already been reworked. The letter "P" is stamped on all housings that have already been reworked. See Illustration 2. ILLUSTRATION 1 (SEE ILLUSTRATION) ILLUSTRATION 2 (SEE ILLUSTRATION) To rework the 8N2501 Housing, remove the housing from the governor. Drill a 3.2 mm (.125") hole as shown in Illustration 3. Install the 5H1351 Pin so the top of the pin is 43.61 +/- .64 mm (1.717 +/- .025) away from the front of the rear housing.
