The left hand engine door panel needs to be inspectedon certain 416D, 420D and 430D Backhoe Loaders. Some backhoe loaders mayhave the wrong left hand engine door panel (reference part number 2349066)installed from the factory. The air inlet slots may not line up with theair cleaner inlet (reference 8T2563). The misalignment will be very obvious,as the air inlet will completely miss the slots in the engine panel.AFFECTED PRODUCT

Do not order any parts until an inspection isdone to determine if a new panel is needed. Very few machines require rework.A second trip will be allowed for the rework.ACTION REQUIRED
Caterpillar feels that there are very few machinesrequiring rework. Therefore, we are requesting a 2-visit process:Inspection:
Open the hood and make sure the air cleaner inletseal (8T2563) lines up with the slots in the left hand engine panel (2349066).(See Illustration 1 below.) If the air cleaner seal and panel slots arein-line, no further action is required.
Note: The misalignment will be very obvious,as the air cleaner inlet seal will only be covering a very small portionof the slotted area on the panel.Repair - If air cleaner seal and panelslots are "not" in-line:
Order new 2349066 Enclosure Group and replaceon the machine. A second visit to the machine will be allowed for thisrework.
