Information:

2. Loosen the clamps and remove hose (1) as shown from the pipe.3. Loosen bolt (2) that holds the clip and breather tube in place. Turn the breather tube away from the cylinder head. 4. Remove water temperature sensing unit (3) from the cylinder head.5. Remove bolt (4) that holds the clip and bracket in place. 6. Remove two bolts (6) that hold bracket (5) to the front timing gear cover. 7. Disconnect wire (7) from the sending unit.8. Remove oil pressure line (8) from the clip on the left side of the engine lifting bracket. Remove fuel pressure line from the clip on the right side of the engine lifting bracket. 9. Remove bolts (9) and (10) that hold the cylinder head assembly to the cylinder block.
Do not put the cylinder head assembly down on a flat surface. This can cause damage to the fuel injection valves.
10. Fasten a hoist and remove cylinder head assembly (11). The weight is 425 lb. (191 kg).11. Remove the exhaust manifold. See REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. 12. Remove cylinder head gasket (14), O-ring seals (13) and seals (12) from the spacer plate.Cylinder Head Tightening Sequence Install Cylinder Head Assembly
Be sure a new gasket has been installed between the spacer plate and the cylinder block. See REMOVE AND INSTALL SPACER PLATE. 1. Thoroughly clean the spacer plate and the bottom surface of the cylinder head. Install head gasket (1), seals (3) and O-ring seals (2) and (4).2. Install exhaust manifold. See INSTALL EXHAUST MANIFOLD. 3. Put cylinder head assembly (5) in position on the cylinder block. 4. Put clean oil on the threads of the cylinder head bolts. Install cylinder head bolts (6) and (7) and washers. Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown in illustration A87019x1. a) Tighten bolts 1 through 20 in number sequence to a torque of 200 20 lb.ft. (270 25 N m).b) Tighten bolts 1 through 20 in number sequence to a torque of 330 15 lb.ft. (447 20 N m).c) Tighten bolts 1 through 20 in number sequence to a torque of 330 15 lb.ft. (447 20 N m) by hand.d) Install rocker shafts and push rods. See INSTALL ROCKER SHAFTS AND PUSH RODS.e) Tighten bolts 21 through 26 in number sequence to a torque of 200 20 lb.ft. (270 25 N m).f) Tighten bolts 21 through 26 in number sequence to a torque of 330 15 lb.ft. (447 20 N m).g) Tighten bolts 21 through 26 in number sequence to a torque of 330 15 lb.ft. (447 20 N m) by hand.h) Tighten the 3/8" bolts (7) to a torque of 32 5 lb.ft. (43 7 N m).5. Make an adjustment to the valves to have a clearance of .015 in. (0.38 mm) for intake and .030 in. (0.76 mm) for exhaust. Tighten the locknuts for the valve adjustment screws to a torque of 22 3 lb.ft. (28 4 N m). 6. Install the inner fuel lines. See INSTALL ROCKER SHAFTS AND PUSH RODS. Install bolts (7) that hold bracket (6) to the front timing gear cover. 7. Install oil pressure line (8) in the clip on left side of the engine lifting bracket. Install the fuel pressure line in the clip on the right side of the engine lifting bracket.8. Connect wire (9) to the sending unit. 9. Put the clip in position for the grease line and install bolt (10).10. Install water temperature sensing unit (11) in the cylinder head. 11. Turn breather tube (12) and tighten the bolt that holds the bottom clip for the breather tube to the cylinder block.12. Put those (13) in place and tighten the clamps.13. Install the top hose and tube assembly on the radiator.end by:a) install valve covers and basesb) install fuel injection linesc) install inlet manifoldd) install water temperature regulator
