Information:
1. Remove two covers (1), plate assembly (2) and adapter group (3) from the governor. 2. Remove the bolt that holds collar (4) on the bolt. Remove collar (4). Remove cover (5) and the spring under the collar. 3. Remove bolts (6) and governor housing (7). Remove the gasket that is under the governor housing. 4. Disconnect two fuel lines (8) from the plate group. Remove seat (9) and spring (10). 5. Remove bolts (12) that hold plate group (13) on the fuel injection pump housing. Remove the plug from the side of the fuel injection pump housing and inltall tooling (A).6. Pull the bolt (11) up to put the rack in the center position [the rack is in the center position when it is against tool (A)].7. Remove adapter group (13). Keep bolt (11) pulled up to keep the rack in the center position. If the rack is not in the center position, the lever on the bottom of the plate group will prevent the plate group from being removed from the fuel injection pump housing.Install Governor (Dashpot Governor)
Do not install the plate group until drive assembly (3) is removed from the plate group.
1. Remove ring (1), dowel (2) and drive assembly (3) from the plate group. 2. Install tool (A) in the side of the fuel injection pump housing. Move the rack until it is against tool (A). This puts the rack in the center position. The rack must be in the center position so lever (5) can be put in alignment with the groove (slot) in the rack. A small amount of force on the end of tool (A) will be needed to keep the rack in the center position.3. Install plate group (4) on the fuel injection pump housing. Make sure lever (5) is in alignment with the groove (slot) in the rack. Remove tool (A). 4. Install drive assembly (7) in the drive group. Make sure that the groove in the bottom of the drive assembly is in alignment with the pin in the pinion in the fuel injection pump housing. Make sure hole (6) and hole (9) in gear (8) are in alignment. 5. Install pin (11) that holds drive assembly (7) in position in gear (8).6. Install ring (10) to hold pin (11) in position in the gear. 7. Connect two fuel lines (12) to the plate group.8. Install spring (14) and seat (13). 9. Install gasket (16) and governor housing (15). Install the bolts that hold it in place. 10. Install spring (18) and collar (17) on bolt (19). Install the bolt that holds the collar on bolt (19). 11. Install gasket (22) and adapter group (20) on the governor housing. Make sure lever (21) is in position under collar (17). 12. Put the gasket and plate assembly (24) in position on adapter group (20). Make sure the pin on plate assembly (24) is in the groove (slot) in the collar.13. Install the gaskets and two covers (23) on the plate assembly.14. Check the governor adjustment. See GOVERNOR ADJUSTMENTS in TESTING AND ADJUSTING.Disassemble Governor (Dashpot Governor)
START BY:a) remove governor (dashpot governor) 1. Remove bolt (1), lever (2) and the key from the shaft. Remove insulator (3). 2. Remove bolts (5) and the locks. Remove levers (4) and (6). Remove washer (7) and shaft (8).3. Remove valve (9) and the seal. 4. Remove valve (10) from the adapter. 5. Remove two lip type seals (11). Remove two bearings (12) from the adapter with tooling (A). 6. Remove the cotter pin and pin (18). Remove locknut (14). Remove rod (13) from the bracket. Remove locknut (15), spacer (16) and spring (17) from rod (13). 7. Remove shaft (19) and the spring on the shaft from hub (21). The end of shaft (19) has threads. Turn shaft (19) counterclockwise to remove it from hub (21).8. Remove handle (20). 9. Remove the two screws that hold bracket (24) in position. Remove bracket (24), bracket (22), quadrant (23), hub (21) and ratchet (25). 10. Remove seal (26), bolts (27) and spacer (28) from the governor housing. Remove the seal on the other end of the shaft. 11. Remove two bolts (29). Remove torque control group (30). Remove high and low idle setscrews (31). 12. Diassemble torque control group (3) as follows: remove insulator (32), bar (33), shim (34), retainer (35), contact (36), insulator (37) and retainer (38) from lock (39) and bolts (40). 13. Remove bolt (42) and lock (43). Remove shaft (44) and lever assembly (41) from the governor housing. 14. Put spring (46) under compression. Remove pin (45). Slowly release the compression of spring (46). Remove spring (46) and plunger (47) from lever assembly (41). 15. Remove lip type seal (49) from both sides of the governor housing. Remove valve body (48). 16. Remove valve (52) from valve body (48). Remove O-ring seal (50) from valve body (48). Remove O-ring seal (51) from valve (52). 17. Use tooling (A) to remove bearings (53) from the governor housing.18. Do Steps 19 and 20 to remove guide (54) from the governor housing if a replacement is necessary. 19. Put the deep counterbore end of tool (B) over the guide of the governor housing. Tool (B) will give support to the center of the governor housing when the guide is removed.20. Use tool (C) and a press to remove the spring guide from the governor housing. 21. Remove ring (56) and dowel (57). Remove drive assembly (58) and stop (55) from gear (59). 22. Use tool (D) to remove ring (60) from gear (59). Remove gear (59) from the plate. 23. Use tool (E) to remove the snap ring that holds seat (61) in position. Remove seat (61). 24. Remove piston assembly (62) and spring (63) from seat (61) as a unit. Remove spacers (64) from the seat. 25. Remove spring (63) from seat (68). Use tool (E) to remove snap ring (65) from seat (68). Remove ring (66) and spool (67) from seat (68).
