During an automatic calibration, the pressure offset value is set to the previous calibration value. The Electronic Control Module (ECM) checks the signals from certain pressure sensors when the keyswitch is turned to the ON position. The keyswitch must remain in the ON position for two seconds in order for the ECM to check the signals from the sensors. The signal from the barometric pressure sensor, crankcase pressure sensor, and NRS differential pressure sensor are compared to a value stored in the ECM. The appropriate fault code is active if either signal is outside of the specified range. The ECM compares the signal from the intake manifold pressure sensor with the signal from the barometric pressure sensor. The signal's from the inlet fuel pressure sensor and the outlet fuel pressure sensor of the secondary fuel filter base are compared. The signal from the inlet pressure sensor must be within the specified range of the signal from the outlet pressure sensor. If the sensor signal is out of the range, the diagnostic trouble code is logged. The sensor signal must be within the specified range of the signal from the reference pressure sensor. If a sensor signal is out of the range, the corresponding fault code becomes active.Note: The engine coolant temperature must be greater than 0° C (32° F) before this procedure is performed.Download the "Product Summary Report" from the engine ECM before performing any troubleshooting or clearing diagnostic trouble codes.Check for active calibration codes. Use Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) to check for calibration codes that are active or logged. If the 108-13 Barometric Pressure : Calibration Required is active, perform the following procedure on the barometric pressure sensor prior to troubleshooting calibration codes for the other sensors. Perform the following procedure in order to troubleshoot active calibration codes:
Inspect the connector of the suspect sensor. Verify that no moisture or corrosion is present in the connector assembly. Thoroughly inspect the connector seal for damage. Reconnect the connector.
Monitor the status parameter for the suspect sensor on Cat ET. Wiggle the wiring at the suspect sensor connector. While you wiggle the wiring, check that the value of the status parameter remains steady during the test.If the value of the status parameter does not remain steady during the test, perform the necessary repairs to the wiring and/or the sensor connector.Verify that the
