Information:
START BY:a) remove fuel injection linesb) remove fuel filter and base 1. Disconnect governor control rod (1) from the lever. 2. Remove bracket (2) from the governor.3. Remove drain line (4) from the pump housing.4. Disconnect drain line (5) from the fuel transfer pump.5. Disconnect fuel pressure line (3) from the pump housing. Later machines do not have the fuel pressure line. 6. Remove nuts (7) and cover (6) from the front of the timing gear cover. 8. Loosen bolt (8) until there is approximately .125 in. (3.2 mm) clearance between the bolt head and the washer. 9. Install tooling (A) on the drive gear as shown. Tighten the center bolt on tooling (A) until the drive gear is loose.10. Remove tooling (A), the bolt and the washer. 11. Fasten a hoist to the fuel pump housing and governor (9). Remove three nuts (10) that hold the fuel injection pump in place. Remove the fuel injection pump housing and governor (9) as a unit. The weight of the unit is 50 lb. (23 kg).Install Fuel Injection Pump Housing And Governor
1. Put the number one piston in top center compression position. See FINDING TOP CENTER COMPRESSION POSITION FOR NO. 1 PISTON in TESTING AND ADJUSTING.
Typical Example Shown In Chassis2. Remove the bolt from location (1).3. Remove timing pin (2) (if so equipped) from location (3). Install timing pin (2) on tool (A) at location (1) as shown. Turn the camshaft until timing pin (2) or tool (A) goes in the notch in the camshaft. 4. Make a replacement of O-ring seal (4) if necessary, and make sure it is in position on the fuel transfer pump. 5. Fasten a hoist and install fuel injection pump housing and governor (5) as a unit on the engine. Install the three nuts that hold the unit to the timing gear plate.6. Put the fuel injection pump drive gear in position on the camshaft. Install the washer and bolt to hold the drive gear. The radiator and radiator guard and fan belts are removed for photo illustration. 7. Install tooling (B) in the holes of the fuel injection pump drive gear as shown. Put a torque of approximately 50 lb.ft. (70 N m) on the pump drive gear in a clockwise direction (as seen from the front of the engine). With the clockwise torque on the pump drive gear, tighten the bolt to a torque of 110 5 lb.ft. (149 7 N m).8. Remove timing pin (1) or tool (A). Remove the 3/8"- 16 NC bolt from the flywheel.9. Turn the engine counterclockwise (as seen from rear of engine) two complete revolutions. If timing pin (1) or tool (A) goes into the notch in the camshaft of the fuel injection pump and the 3/8"- 16 NC bolt goes in the flywheel at the same time, the timing is correct.10. If timing pin (1) or tool (A) can not be installed, see CHECKING TIMING BY TIMING PIN METHOD in TESTING AND ADJUSTING. 11. Install the gasket and cover (6). Tighten the nuts that hold the cover to a torque of 20 5 lb.ft. (25 7 N m). 12. Install drain line (8) and connect drain line (9).13. For earlier machines connect fuel pressure tube assembly (7) to the pump housing. 14. Install bracket (11) on the governor. Connect governor control rod (10) to the lever.END BY:a) install fuel injection linesb) install fuel filter and base
