This Program must be administered as soon as possible. When reporting the repair, use "PI3879" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description Code. Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI3879" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

Low oil pressure shutdowns are occurring on 3512 and 3516 Generator Set Engines equipped with EMCP II and a 35 Amp alternator. This occurs at start-up when the oil pressure exceeds the range of the sensor. Noise generated on the oil pressure signal line can cause an inaccurate low oil pressure reading by the Generator Set Control even though the engine has high oil pressure.

Replace the 3E6489 Oil Pressure Sensor with the 1333917 Oil Pressure Sensor on standby 3512 and 3516 Generator Set Engines equipped with EMCP II and a 35 Amp alternator. The sensor is a direct replacement and will not require any additional modifications. In most cases, this event would have surfaced during original commissioning. The program can be administered on Prime 3512 and 3516 Gensets at dealer discretion; however, if a prime genset is not exhibiting this problem, it is not necessary to administer this program.
