Hot oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact the skin. Be sure that the engine and components are cool enough to touch with your bare hand prior to performing any service work.
The engine in the 5130B Excavator has two turbochargers. This procedure shows the removal of the right turbocharger. 1. Remove coupling (1) from elbow assembly (2). 2. Loosen clamp (3) on elbow (2). Remove elbow (2) and the metal ring from turbocharger (4). 3. Disconnect turbocharger inlet pressure sensor wiring harness (7) at the electrical connection. Loosen hose clamp (5) on elbow (6). Remove elbow (6) and the shield assembly from turbocharger (4). 4. Remove hose assembly (9) from union tee (8). 5. Remove tube assembly (12). Remove two bolts (10), the washers, and adapter (11).6. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 on the remaining turbocharger. 7. Loosen bolt (13), the nut, and the washers. Remove tube assembly (14) from the bracket. 8. Disconnect tube assembly (15) from turbocharger (4). 9. Remove three nuts (16), the bolts, and the washers that hold shield assembly (17) to turbocharger (4). Discard nuts (16) and the bolts after removal. 10. Remove two bolts (18) and the washers that hold shield assembly (17) to turbocharger (4). Remove shield assembly (17) from turbocharger (4). Discard bolts (18) after removal. 11. Loosen clamp (19) on exhaust coupling (20). Remove four bolts (22) from exhaust coupling (20). Remove three bolts (21), the nuts, and the washers that hold exhaust coupling (20) to turbocharger (4). Remove exhaust coupling (20) from turbocharger (4). 12. Position a suitable container under drain elbow (22) to contain any oil for storage or disposal. Remove two bolts (23) from drain elbow (24). Discard bolts (22) after removal. 13. Position a lifting sling around turbocharger (4), as shown. Secure the lifting sling to a hoist. Put tension on the lifting sling.14. Remove two bolts (24) and the washers that hold turbocharger (4) to elbow (26).15. Remove four high temperature bolts (27) and the nuts from the exhaust pipe support.16. Remove turbocharger (4) from the exhaust manifold and elbow (26). Remove the gasket from the exhaust manifold and the gasket from the drain elbow. Discard bolts (26) and the gaskets. The weight of turbocharger (4) is 54 Kg (119 lb).17. Remove the two O-ring seals off elbow (26). The following steps are for the installation of the turbocharger. 18. Install the two new O-ring seals on elbow (26).19. Position a lifting sling around turbocharger (4), as shown. Secure the lifting sling to a hoist.20. Put a new gasket in position on the exhaust manifold and a new gasket in position on the drain elbow. Put turbocharger (4) in position on elbow (26) and the exhaust manifold. The weight of turbocharger (14) is 54 Kg (119 lb).21. Install two bolts (25) that hold turbocharger (4) to elbow (26).22. Apply 4C-5598 Anti-Seize Compound to the threads of bolts (27) and the nuts. Install four new high temperature bolts (27) and the nuts that hold turbocharger (4) to the exhaust manifold. 23. Apply 4C-5598 Anti-Seize Compound to the threads of bolts (23). Install two new bolts (23) in drain elbow (24). 24. Apply 4C-5598 Anti-Seize Compound to the threads of bolts (21) and (22).25. Put exhaust coupling (20) and the gasket in position on turbocharger (4).26. Install three new bolts (21), the nuts, and the washers that hold exhaust coupling (20) to turbocharger (4).27. Install four new high temperature bolts (22) to exhaust coupling (20).28. Position clamp (19) on exhaust coupling (20). Tighten clamp (19) to a torque of 10 1 N m (84 9 lb in), tap clamp (19) lightly all around, tighten clamp (19) to a torque of 10 1 N m (84 9 lb in). 29. Apply 4C-5598 Anti-Seize Compound to the threads of bolts (18). Put shield assembly (17) on turbocharger (4). Install two new bolts (18) and the washers that hold shield assembly (17) to turbocharger (4). 30. Apply 4C-5598 Anti-Seize Compound to the threads of nuts (16) and the bolts. Install three new nuts (16) and the bolts that hold shield assembly (17) to turbocharger (4). 31. Connect tube assembly (15) to turbocharger (4). 32. Put tube assembly (14) in position in the bracket. Tighten bolt (13), the nut, and the washers. 33. Put adapter (11) in position and install two bolts (10) and the washers. Install tube assembly (12). 34. Install hose assembly (9) on union tee (8). 35. Put elbow (6) and the shield assembly on turbocharger (4). Tighten hose clamp (5) on elbow (6). Connect turbocharger inlet pressure sensor wiring harness (7) at the electrical connection. 36. Put elbow (2) and the metal ring on turbocharger (4). Tighten clamp (3) on elbow (2). 37.
